9mm is a round you can find almost anywhere in the world. The 40 cal round is something that America has made solely popular. My personal recommendations...stick with the 9mm if you feel comfortable with it.

I feel I can control the 9mm more accurately in situation where precision matters.

Has every one forgot about the double tap? I know what the statistics say but when I go to the range to practice for defense I practice double tap. Given that you rely on your training in a stressful situation, my first engagement will be a double tap. I shoot competitively and go to the range often. With practice one can double tap and only be centimeters from one hole to the other.

I guarantee that two 9mm have more punch than .40 any day. Its all about the training.

Not to mention that if I have to down an aggressor and 3 or 4 of his buddies decide to get involved I would much rather have 15 rnds than 6.

Argument over
At different point my thinking has paid attention to detail. Texas T; Snuffy, ouch, risk_3715, DWARREN123, each of you have different points, I like them all. Each that brought opinions to this thread; all need the same good thinking.
Deliberately thinking out each position.

Ballistics don't change if you miss the target. You just hit something else. Available to all of us are the "ballistic tables' These tables are complicatedly simple. Speed- Time- Distance
you could throw in pressure, sea level, barometric's, wind.
What are you the most effective with? What are you practicing with? What are you comfortable with? Do you practice? How do you practice?

Lets throw out basic 'ballistics' Lets throw in hitting our target. Lets be realistic with ourselves. Based on 'FBI' study most situations will be at 20' approx. or less. Somewhat of 7yds.
With someone or something making a great deal of stress, in your immediate life; how are you going to respond?
With well practiced practices, knowing your abilities, knowing your strength and weakness's irregardless the caliber; you will be better equipped.
