Question about office policy

Because of the BS that went on at my office, they released an addendum to our employee manual regarding weapons.

In this addendum, it says in so many words, employees are not to have weapons including firearms and knives with more than 3" blades while working or during company sponsored events.

My problem is the company sponsored events. If it is in our office, yes. But if they are hosting a Christmas party at a neutral location in a restaurant or something, they can't tell me I can't carry my gun there, can they?

I would imagine they can, although I'm not sure. But as long as you don't shout, and wave it about, I doubt it matters anyway. Discretion is the word here...

In the office is a different matter. If you carry daily, sooner or later someone will know.

I leave my gun in my car now & take the bullets and magazine with me. I told the owner I would do that. They are well within their rights and I have no objection to them barring weapons from their premesis.

I don't think that they can tell me the other thing though. They do not own or lease the establishment, therefore they have no ability to censor your constitutional rights there.

My guess is that if you're attending a company-sponsored function, they have the right to specify no armed people are invited. That's different from ordering you not to go there on your own while armed. But as I said, why call them on it anyway? Keep the blasted thing out of sight unless you need to use it and that's the end of the matter, unless you think they're planning to search you...

For either at the office or an office function, it doesn't matter: "Concealed means concealed."

If it comes down to my life or my job, that's a no-brainer.

My company also put that rule into effect. Since I didn't advertise that I carry in the first place and don't talk about it now no one is the wiser. Since I work on various projects around the city and sometimes at night I don't leave home without my pistol. I had a coworker that was in his office trailer on a jobsite working at night and two men armed with knives came in and robbed him at knife point. Took all the computer equipment and his wallet and phones so he couldn't call the police.
I refuse to be a victim.

I'm not going to flash the fact that I have it. I just was wondering about the policy.

What I'd do if I was going to an off site fuckion is carry my piece and not worry about it !!!
It is my Constitutional right to own and tote a firearm BUT I found out recently in Arkansas if a business doesn't want firearms on there property you have to obey the law and oblidge them.
As long as I can carry completly concealed I will continue you to carry every where but a federal building...I'm talking about restaraunts and stores and the like.
And if'in someone was to come up to me say at J.C Penny or a Pizza Parlor wanted to search me I would just walk away and leave. Or I'd tell them feller ! I just farted and I chit in my pants I gotta git !!! I don't think they'ed want to search me then. LOL
