GA was OC at the time. Back then if it wasn't concealed you could carry here in Dodge anyway. I had a holster on my hip. I also had a big field jacket I wore in the winter my .44 fit in a special breast pocket.

I have used both 357magnum and 44magnum a lot.If i had to carry for personal pretection i would probably go with a 357magnum.A little less recoil in a 4 inch barrel.Have used a mates 4 inch smith 44magnum with my heavy 240gn silhouette loads i used in my ruger super blackhawk with 10 1/2 inch barrel. The recoil was very noticable hahahahhahahah. In 6 or 8 inch a 44 would be fine with the right loads.A S&W 586 in 6inch or 8 inch would be my pick.I know not very concealable but its what i would feel comfortable with.

I loaded 240gr lead semiwadcutter hollow points loaded to around 1100 fps for defense and general shooting. I also carried a vaquero. The revolver I carried the longest was my colt .357 peacekeeper.

I watched several of the spirit in the wild shows and he was shooting a Glock in 10mm. The 44 mag is pretty stout but you can shoot 44 special's and control it very good.

I always carried my SuperBlackhawk for backup when hunting and never found it too heavy to carry.

To find out if your state is pro-OC, check out OpenCarry.org

I can't look for the OP, as his/her location is not listed.
How accurate and up to date is the opencarry.org site? Im in Ohio and they say were an open carry state. So since Im taking my CCW Training June 8th do you guys think its best for someone to carry open or concealed who wears Tshirts? I will be carrying a 45ACP overall length 8" height with site to clip 6 1/2" width 1 1/2"? I would like a hip holster but not sure. Im a big guy so I dont think IWB would be comfortable.

Normally the length of the gun or barrel isn't the problem, it's the width. The cylinder on a revolver is what get's in the way. Most people are so oblivious to what goes on around them that you could carry in plain sight and very few folks would notice.
I've carried, inside my shirt under my belt, 1911s, Glocks, S&W 29, Colt Single Actions and a S&W 28 with a 6" barrel. Depends on what you're doing and what you're wearing.

The map on the front is just a guide. The best place to look for up-to-date information is in the forums and especially in each state's forum. The members there have done lots of research that you can benefit from.
