ankle holsters

How secure are ankle holsters? Im thinking about getting a glock 30 or 36 (or another compact .40-.45) but wear dress slacks with tucked in shirt everyday. Ive thought about a small keltec in the pocket but i think i want something in the .40-.45 range. I dont think a g36 would fit that nice in a dress slacks but I might get some intrigued looks from the ladies.

You probably want to look into pocket guns such as the Kahr's PM40 and PM45, but they're kind of expensive. ImpactGuns does have the .40S&W for $100 less than retail though: Kahr PM40 'Micro' 40SW Polymer 3" for a little over $600.

Also check out the Taurus Millenium Pro 140 and the Taurus Millenium Pro 145. They look to sell for around $330

As for ankle holsters, I've never tried one, but I know quite a few companies make 'em , such as Galco.

I have never worn one, but I do not think that I would like something attached to my ankle and throwing me off of my regular stride when I walk. Even an Airweight snubby weighs a pound when loaded. Especially if you have back, knee or hip issues that may cause stress and pain.

Also...you have to be very careful of how you sit and walk at work. I would not want to have to be conscious of keeping a pant leg down over a gun at all times. Little things like a short co-worker asking you to reach a high shelf can expose the holster.

Sometimes we have to be realistic about the threat level where we work and make do without a gun. If you get caught with a gun on your ankle will you be fired? Is that important to you? If somebody ever calls the employer and asks for a performance review...

"Yes, he was a great worker, but we had to fire him for carrying a gun. Yes, Sylvia saw it, got frightened and called the police. No kidding, they sent three oficers. Place was in turmoil for a week over it..."

I wear one most all time. I usually wear it with jeans though. The kind I got was made by Gould and Goodrich. It is a little pricier than some but after wearing it awhile I know I would not be happy with the cheaper ones. It has a strap that also attaches just below the knee so it keeps it very secure. It did take a little getting used to but I can run with it and it won't come loose. Not that I do much running LOL.
