The only part I disagree with is:

It's a new day. We have suddenly realized that the things we have worked hard for and tried to hang on to have great value. That another has some sort of right, illegal right in my opinion, to our property has hopefully passed, especially given the Systems very poor record of recovering stolen property. I have worked hard, often paying in sweat and tears, for the things I own, they are a part of who I am. Why should another person be free to steal my things to support his aberrant lifestyle?

+1 Mr. Franklin. Plus the fact is that some things simply cannot be replaced and to have a monetary value placed on them by a total stranger (insurance company) is an insult only exceeded by the theft itself.
