'There's no evidence that CC has prevented crime over OC; the opposite is not true.'

Here in Texas, according to DPS info, there has been a drop in violent crime, except for inter-gang warfare. With CC a Bad Guy has to guess who's carrying and who isn't. The Castle Doctrine has really reduced Burglaries too.

ah! I don't care if anyone carries open or concealed...

If the bad guy poses a threat to my family, well, it doesn't matter if we carry open or concealed. I'm pretty sure speer and federal tastes the same to him either way.

Everyone should carry anyhow.

Is AZ the only right-to-carry state? I can walk into Walgreens with my M4 and I am not breaking a single law. We can open and concealed carry, are we the only ones??

There's a reason criminals are criminals... they're opportunists. They want to find the easiest prey and take advantage of them. If they know you're armed and will likely fight back, they'll move to easier "prey."

There's no evidence that CC has prevented crime over OC; the opposite is not true. I have heard stories of "thugish, gangsta" types walking into a 7-11, seeing an OC'er at the register buying some soda, eyes going wide and scurrying out as quickly as they could.

To also cut off another argument against OC; there is no evidence that OC'er have their guns taken from them by BG's. There are incidents of gun-grabs, but they're from LEO's that have to get in close and go hands-on with BG's. We citizens can keep our distance and most OC'ers are smart enough to use a level-2 or higher holster (Serpa myself) to increase retention.
I wouldn't argue against OC by any means--I think it's great if you're so inclined on a given day. I do disagree in that I don't believe you can "cut off" the argument that you are a greater potential target against an adversary by OC ing. Maybe you'll deter crime in the target of opportunity "coward" type of criminal scenario. However, in the terrorist, psycho, or determined "Dillinger" type of criminal you're the prime threat and thus will be the prime target. You've tipped your hand, and you will be dealt with as a threat first, much as if you were wearing a uniform--you've lost your ability to discreetly draw and fire when attention is not on you. There is evidence of this, by the way. In one example Lester Gillis (AKA Baby Face Nelson) -- a criminal sociopath -- would actively pursue Federal agents and LEO's in an attempt to kill them. The element of tactical surprise remains an important one, exploited by successful military forces throughout history. In any case, in that it's impossible to measure a crime that didn't occur, neither of us will really be able to "prove" any of these assertions--we'll just be able to state them for their relative merits. And, again, I'm certainly for OC as well as CC and am happy to proudly carry.

The ideal scenario is that people can carry without restriction, one way or another. A major social benefit from CC is that a criminal has no idea who's armed and who's not. As such, even the unarmed can enjoy a major benefit derived from those who are armed--A would be attacker doesn't know if you are armed or not and is thus less likely to attack anyone.

Beer, there are only six states that totally prohibit Open Carry.

Florida is one of those states...we were given a choice of CCW or Open, we voted for Open.

I inquired about open carry with LVMPD via email and they responded although it is legal it is not recommended as this will "certainly cause problems". Nevada law actually has nothing on the books allowing open carry though it isn't prohibited. It quite simply is silent on the matter.
For me personally I carry concealed. It goes back to the element of surprise. I for one am not in any way opposed to open carry.
