I have a S&W .38 - 5 shot made in mid to late 60's. Recently I bought a Ruger P85 MK-2, great gun but it's heavy.I bought a Highpoint C-9 9mm,a little lighter but still heavier than my .38,(SO) the old trusty .38 wins out for a light carry pistol. I do not go anywhere with out it.

| Senior Member | KW Gary M: Sir; I carry a SW638, and have for a long time. I have other firearms that would serve me as well. I chose the 638 because it is small fairly light and I can shoot it okay. It fits either my front pocket or rear pocket with ease. Doesn't act ignorant when I have practiced jerking it out quickly. My shooting partner bought the LCP last week and I haven't had an opportunity to shoot it yet. He is after me to get an LCP. He uses the fact that I like Rugers as the leverage ![]() We looked for him one and I've had the opportunity to stick the LCP in all my pockets and it seems to carry well. In the next couple of weeks I'll shoot the LCP. I at this point haven't a desire for one. Things change. Probably will not give up the 638. I'll do a range type report after our shooting.

I wanted to buy one and am waiting for a friend who has a Pawn and Gun store to call me when they come in. He hasn't called and I may be going back to work on a route in a few days, so I sure need one soon. I gotta go ride the route with the guy who's quitting tomarrow and a concealable pistol would be nice to have if I take the job...I guess I'll call and see if there in...A.H

I'v had one now for about 4 months. It is a great pocket gun. It shoots straight for a small pistol and is very light. Average price around, if you can find one is about $289.00. It is a quality built pocket gun.

I am looking to get an LCP also. I had one of the S&W lightweight revolvers, but found that I could pocket carry my G26 almost as easily. I want the LCP for when that is not even practical.

I have the LCP, just bought it but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I had the Kel-tec P3AT and I passed it to my husband as a pocket gun. They are almost identical, the P3AT shot great. I expect the LCP to do as well but I can't say for sure until I am able to try it. I really do like it though. My main carry gun is a G 26.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago. Handles well. Shoots straight. Easy to carry. I carry it every day in the hip pocket of my Dockers in a DeSantis Super Fly pocket holster. I carry with 7 in the mag and one chambered. I feel very confident with it. I'm painting the sights tonight. Last weekend at the range, accuracy was exceptional. I have nothing negative to say about the Ruger LCP.

You're right, man. I had my mind on the additional mag I got today for my Bersa Thunder 380. Ruger doesn't make an extended mag. At least, not yet.

Is it just like the Kel-Tec? Worthless? I have a P3AT. I can't stand it, the trigger pull is way too long. I like the size of the ruger but I was wondering if the trigger pull was shorter, If it is I'll pick one up.

I've never even held a Kel-Tek, so I can't compare. The trigger pull on the LCP is long though. A LE friend of mine who carries a Kel-Tek BUG told me to be glad. He said that several times he would have shot his back side if the trigger pull had been shorter! So I accept it and just practice. I've gotten used to it, so it doesn't bother me now. I just know to pull all the way through. If you dry fire one, you can get an accurate comparison of the trigger action. What the LCP does for me is to give me a totally hidden SD weapon. Carrying a handgun is against my company's policy. So I need something that cannot be noticed. The Ruger gives me that "concealed" handgun.

I haven't shot the Keltec but I've heard from other people that the LCP is a much better built gun. I've heard that the two are the same but only from people that haven't shot both. A guy at my local gun shop has had both and emphatically said they are not the same. That being said, the trigger pull is a little ong on the LCP but a very smooth and easy pull. I've not been shooting very long and it's really not a challenge for me. I don't find the trigger pressure to be very much...maybe 6 lbs or so. The trigger pull diesn't bother me especially where there isn't a manual safety.

Well put John, that was pretty much my purpose for getting such a small gun. When I'm out with clients, they'll have no idea it's even there.

Ruger100, I agree about the LCP trigger. It is long, but it is VERY smooth and even. It's not bad at all. And it is the only safety on the gun. I have seen some people post that they have trouble initially with certain ammo. I've had no problems whatsoever. I've used White Box FMJ and PMC FMJ. No problems. I've also run a few dozen rounds of Remington UMC JHP without incident. I'm delighted with my purchase. I just hope this gun likes me as much as I like it!!

I like mine, the trigger pull doesn't seem bad for me. I think it's a great gun. long waiting period for me(bout 2 month's) I have a glock 19. It's ok in the winter/fall for ccw. I think it's little too big in the summer. I tried the g-26, but still too big(too wide) I tried the Kahr line. Didn't like how they felt when i shot it. Was too painfull. The LCP is very controllable. Wasn't so keen on a 380 cal, but w/hydra shocks, they should be good defence. Lcp is very easy to conceal. Fit's in pocket, or I like to wear inside the waist(hardly feel it's there)
