Yep, the same ol' stuff, but maybe you remembered some things forgotten. Never hurts to be reminded about safety. I have had my CHL long enough to renew once.
My motto: "It's better to carry and not need than to need and not carry."

Very true. Even if you learn one very small safety tip it's a successful class. I wouldn't have a problem being required to sit in on a new safety class every time I renew if it is going to keep one unsafe person from carrying.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but i took the class twice! My wife couldn't take it with me when I took mine, so I went back with her. Got to help the instructor at the range and classroom. ya its the same ol stuff, but this instr. tries to make it more relaxed actually enjoyed it both times. the instr. is a retired ( semi) and had alot of stories to tell. a few jokes and cutting up. made it alot more interresting.

Smile Hardest

gcsod45: Sir; good deal. Waiting is the hardest for us in NC. Our state has adopted 90 days max. waiting. Our Sheriff has us wait an average of 87 days.

Aarant: Sir; like you; I have sat through several different testings.
My shooting partners needed moral support It continues for me to be a reinforcement. After additional times; I continue gaining more information from the different folks; during question and answer sessions.

The basic State test is what it is. The Folks questions are the best part for me.

There is no such thing as too much information on safe gun handling. The presentation needs to be interesting and enjoyable so the recipient will remember it.

Here in Indiana we used to have to renew every 4 years, but now you can get a LIFETIME carry permit from 60 to 100 bucks , depending if you are already a active permit holder or first time applicant. It is great to not have to remember to go down and get re-finger printed every 4 years....

8 hours? Dang, mine was 2 days and about 50 rounds on the range. But the teacher was an Old Salt and had a gun shop next door...so well worth the time invested.

Riverside County, Southern California. I can take all the classes I want, but the sheriff isn't going to give me a CCW unless I'm a politician or a celebrity. You know: unless I'm one of those people who believe ordinary people can't be trusted with a gun...

Odd thing, though: I can go down and take some classes in Riverside, given by a guy who's certified as an instructor in several states, and get CCW permits for two or three states I don't even live in. Those states have reciprocal agreements with other states. So between them I could legally carry in most of the country, even though I'm not allowed to pack in my home state. Go figure...

I haven't bothered to spend the time and money, mostly because I very rarely travel any more except inside California, or across the border into Arizona.

Yes, had my permit since 69. Now I have the lifetime permit. Thought I had better get that before they come up with "too old" when I go to renew one of these years.
