Arizona CCW states that the owner or management can ask you to leave the building with the weapon and you have to or face tresspassing charges

Unless God is going to put his thumb print on a tablet like He did with the 10 Commandments, I doubt THE owner of the building is going to post such a sign.

I would keep carrying, and be a little more careful. You had an off the cuff comment made to you; you're welcome to discuss it with him but, not knowing what relationship you have, this might create more problems than it will solve--you'll have to decide this. I don't know that it's "his" church per se (not talking philosophically) -- in many cases the session or equivalent hires the ministers, who actually work for the congregation itself. I'd probably just discreetly carry unless he directly asks you not to while going to church or to leave if you are. If this occurs, you'll need to proceed from there -- by asking for a clarification/decision from your church's governing body allowing carry, switching churches, or disarming.

You never know when someone will threaten you or your loved ones--crazed gunmen attack churches, schools, restaurants, and workplaces. I believe carrying a firearm wherever legal is prudent, and consistent at least with my religious beliefs.

It is most likely against the law for you to continuing to carry it to church. Almost every state gives the owner of the propery express right to tell you whether or not you can carry there. If he has told you not to, and you do actually respect him as you say... you would just stop, no further discussion.

It all depends on how much authority you believe the Bible gives your pastor and/or ministers. At our church, if an assistant pastor told me that, I would still carry. He is not the overshepherd of that body of believers and therefore is not in authority over such a matter.
You can either ask the head pastor or keep it quiet. I would just keep it quiet, personally. Just make sure you don't have any accidents with your pistol like a guy did at my old church. (It went off near a girl's head when she gave this man a hug).

WOW must of been a big hug !!!

Just leave the chamber unloaded if it's a semi auto and if a revolver leave the hammer down on a empty chamber, that way it would be unlikely to go off.

I think it's a Class A misdemeanor to carry in a church. But if you get scoped out once and reported, the second time it's a felony. I believe that's correct, at least for Texas, but I'd have to double check.

I didn't carry in church until, at another church, a guy came in with a M1 Carbine and shoot 9 people. Since then I carry everywhere.
My Pastor was my best friend at a former church, he told me that if anything happen to give him time to get down before I started shooting.
At Cowboy Ferllowship, where I go now, we have many LEOs. Many come in uniform on lunch break or on the way to work.

^I don't think it's a problem when everybody agrees, but if nobody knows you're carrying in church and you lean over to put money in the collection basket and it gets revealed, you could have a problem. I actually saw a news article within the past year where a church voted to have an armed individual carry in church to protect the collection basket after they got robbed. I'm not saying it's bad to carry in church, but I'd like to know who is so I can sit next to them lol.

carry it unless the pastor is willing to take on the liability for protecting you and your family. Most states require openly posting the facility to deny you entry and at that point its time to change churches

We're not allowed to carry in hospitals or nursing homes, amusement parks, places of worship, or government meetings if signs are posted prohibiting them. In this case I don't think it needs be a .30-06 sign. If no sign at all, we should be good to go. In all cases, concealed means just that, so if you're concerned be extra careful. Got this from the FAQ on the DPS site.

Cheers.

I really didn't know what to say at that point... I've been carrying anytime I'm out since I got my permit. And in my state it's perfectly legal to carry in a church...

Do you guys think I should stop carrying in the church? talk to him about it again? talk to the lead pastor or elders? or should I just stop carrying?

The reason this is somewhat of a dilemma is because my church meets in a less than desirable area, and at times I'm helping out the church until late into the night. But on the flip side I really respect the guy who didn't want me carrying, and I don't want to offend him.

Anyways, if you were in my shoes what would you do.
If I respect someone,I respect his wishes. If I couldnt agree to abide by his rules,I would show enough respect to stay out of his church. If and when he asked why I wasn't there I would explain that I respected him enough to abide by his wishes but respected myself enough to abide by my own judgements. The biggest reason someone like your pastor objects to guns is because they are afraid of them and have no knowledge of them.I have found that about the only way I could ever change their mind was to take the time to educate them which included shooting sessions. If they weren't intrested,we had a parting of the ways.I can only recall one that I didn't win over. sam.

+1 If you really have to leave it in your car. But I'd still carry in the church if it went along with the laws.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it..

People have been shot in Churches...

Police Seek Leads in Shooting at Church - washingtonpost.com

2nd teen in church shooting gets $450,000 bail -- chicagotribune.com

Preservation of self and Family...I kind've think God wants us to protect his flock if we can...and to protect those that cannot protect themselves..There are many Biblical passages that speak of the protection of family and brotheren.

Sometimes those that are blinded by religion forget that currently God is on vacation and they should watch thier own ass.

Out of respect for him I would follow his wishes. It seems clear you like and respect him. After all you were working on his car. Do you really expect to get in a gun fight during Sunday service? Lock your gun in the car when in the church. If it were reversed and you invited me to your home and asked I don't bring a gun I wouldn't bring a gun. Your house your rules.
