Well after doing some research I decided that I would try some of the Hornady 180gr TAP (picked up a box today). It seems to perform very well from what others have stated and discovered in some test.
Anyone have any real world/gel test experience with these?

He seems to be selling in just 50 round boxes now, but you might find out what his pricing on 500 round cases is.

Aaron,
A friend of mine wanted to test some 9mm's in the water jugs, so we shot some plain (brown box) Hornadys into them. They did OK, but for his gun, the Federals did better. He said "you know, Hornady makes this police ammo that has some better ballistics" and we were both interested, but we never got around to testing it. It sounds like it would be a great round and it comes highly recommended by several members. Let me know what you think after you fire a few rounds. If you have any way of capturing a bullet, it would be cool to see how it expands and if it stays all intact. Good luck, and keep us informed. B

I have found that putting a large tarp down under the test area will help keep the spent rd findable. blue

I really appreciate the input from everyone!
I plan on getting out of the city next weekend to do some hog hunting. While I'm out I'll set up some water jugs and shoot each of the SD rounds that I have to see what the results are. I'll shoot some 180gr Hydra Shock along with testing a few rounds of the new Hornady 180gr TAP I bought the other day.
As soon as I get a chance I'll see about getting some pics up of the results.

I went to a couple of stores last week and I wasnt able to find any 165's in jhp. Seems a lot of the places I went were low on handgun ammo, or just had limited choices. The 165's seem to be an excellent choice for the .40.

I picked up Gold Dot in 155 & 165 in order to let the gun select. However, it hasn't made up it's mind yet. Ha. If neither pop up a clear winner, I will probably eenie meenie them. I am pretty impressed by the testing results I have seen on the Gold Dot bullet. You can find test results through the Speer site. (Tests done by independent sources, PD's etc.) Good luck
Tom
