Hi all,
I hope this is not considered political, but it is certainly important.
On March 19th, the right to carry a loaded, concealed firearm in national parks and wild life refuges was suspended. You can help reverse this by sending President Obama an email expressing your view. If you choose to do so, it is best to be professional, short and to the point.
For example: Dear Mr. President, I support the right to carry a handgun for self defense in our nation's parks and wild life refuges. Please reinstate this policy immediately and expand it to include national parks and wildlife refuges in all states. This is essential for law abiding citizens to safely enjoy these areas without fear. Thank you.
You can send an email to the President by going to www.whitehouse.gov and click on Contact Us. The rest is easy.
Please encourage your like minded friends to do the same.
I am trying to get 10 people from each shooting/gun/ccw related forum that I can find to send the email.
If you send the email, please post so I can keep a running total.
You want to know the STUPID excuse they are using for the suspension? There was no "ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDY" done to find out what impact this would have on the area. What the 7734 does that have to do with it? Some people are just morons and the many of them are our politicians.
Dear Mr. President, I am a veteran of the Iraq War and a long time prior law enforcement officer. I support the right to carry a handgun for self defense in our nation's parks and wild life refuges; just as I do in our cities and communities. Please reinstate this policy immediately and expand it to include national parks and wildlife refuges in all states without delay and further conflict. This is essential for law abiding citizens to safely enjoy these areas without fear.
Dear Mr. President,
as a law abiding citizen I support the right to carry a handgun for self defense in our nation's parks and wild life refuges. Please reinstate this policy immediately and expand it to include national parks and wildlife refuges in all states. Thank you.

When one puts human lives above animal lives in the issue of survival (I.E. big grizzly faces you and is going to kill you if you can't defend yourself.) It's just plain stupid.
This was written and sent to the President from someone on another forum responding to this posting.
"Our great nation has survived many trials and tribulations supported by the broad shoulders and the intellect of the US citizenship. From all walks of life we have served, from the poor to the rich. As a nation of broad interests, different opinions, and cherished heritages it is impossible to invoke rules that limit the rights of some people without making them feel inferior to the citizens who do not exercise these rights. I fear for people like me who do honor and respect the rights our fathers fought and died for. Please do not limit us, the good people, nor separate our household into different classes of citizens based on the rights we choose to exercise. United as a people, as a body of the good, the just, and the free. I ask that you consider the removal of the suspension put in place that does not allow me to carry a concealed firearm in our national parks as a lawful citizen.
Pallidin8,
There is no spam filter. www.whitehouse.gov has a page that allows you to type in the text directly. Check it out. Go to the web site and click on Contact Us. It's easy. President Obama is asking for input. Shame on us if we let some other group with an opposite agenda dominate the conversation. Let's let him know what we think about this issue. Be concise and professional. It takes guts to send the email, I know.
You are better off printing the letters and actually mailing them. Email is deleted with a click of the mouse or filtered through their spam filters.
...and it's not easy to plonk a letter into the crank basket or circular file?
Just playing devil's advocate.
Seriously, though... when I worked for my Congress-critter in his DC office, we did take note of the correspondence we received, what they were talking about and how *much* we received for or against any given issue. It was an economical way of seeing who in his constituency cared enough about this matter or that.
Of course, we got some truly wacko mail. Oh, did we ever!
