please explain how you can draw and rack a slide with one hand while holding a mugger off with the other?

+1 in the pipe

Things are pretty laid back up here in S Dakota. I carry very deeply concealed and can't do a quick draw. If I'm in the wrong place at some point, I hope to have time to drag out my weapon. Usually, noone knows ,even on close inspection, that I'm carrying. If things start looking hairy, I tend to get my gun out early and chamber a round. A post the other day is worth noting. Don't chamber the same round each time. Check for OAL by comparing with non-chambered rounds. This is a safety issue I had never known about.

very good point.
if jumped by suprise you may have to discharge a round or more from waist level.

I don't think the BG is going to let ya call "time out"

even living in the nicest places does not mean your safe from bad people.

Well, guys if you are LEO's and have done any tactical training with a pistol, one of the first things they teach you to do is rack the slide one handed. Depending on your circumstance you can rack on your belt or holster if necessary by catching the rear sights on the object....most of that type of training that I had was simulated one handed loading, racking and firing as if your other hand was incapacitated....but I agree it's certainly not the way you want to start into a fight but it can be done in an emergency.

Very right chief, those familiar with autos know that. I just got tired of expressing my views to those so eager and waiting for trouble.

I carry a round in the chamber and the safety off because the bad guy may be very close on me like asking the time or for a light so I need to draw and fire fast in that case.

If i am carrying my glock 17 i do not keep a round in the chamber in my opinion its to easy to snag a trigger on a seat belt corner etc etc......

a cz-75 sp -01 tactical has the decocker and long trigger pull like a double action revolver i carry a round in.

but for the most part i carry a double action only revolver every day.
I am reversed glock one in the chamber 1911 no
