Darn you! Now I'll have to get ANOTHER CETME just so I can use this stock. I want to use my current one in a milsurp shoot and I don't think this would be kosher for that. If you have that stock, is the tube on it milspec or commercial?

Oh sure, I disappear for awhile and this thread actually does something!

Good to see some new Cetme rifles on here, they all look great! (even Billy's)

I added the RTG bipod, scope shade, and club-foot stock adapter. Everything else is stock. Thanks for looking!

I'm Jealous

That is very nice! The Magpul is a bit expensive for me, which explains my jealousy. Did you have to change out the backplate or does it come with a compatible one?

Thanks and...

I had a look at your CETME Iceman. Very different and very cool! How did you manage the camo?

I used the CETME backplate. The stock itself requires a little honing and drilling, and the spacer for the buffer bolt has to be drilled out, but it's pretty quick and simple if you have the tools. I'm sure it would have been made much easier with the G3 backplate, but what's the fun in easy? And thanks ICEMAN. I'm really proud of it. It's my first gun.

Well...

That's a lot of money to spend to have to start modifying a stock. Regardless, it looks great and I'm glad it worked out for you! That is a mighty fine first rifle. My first rifle was a single shot .22 caliber, but we all have to start somewhere don't we?

Thank you Rodax, a friend of mine that owned the rifle before me did it actually, just using masked templates and spray paint to mimic a german camo pattern he had seen before.

I have a few questions; can you buy match type triggers? Seeing that this has stamped receivers is it difficult to mount a scope?
How reliable is this rifle I dont want to buy junk but I think this would be the quintesential SHTF rifle and I really like the looks. Are their many after market accessories availiable? muzzle breaks ,ect.

Some Answers

Hi Paul-
The trigger is affordably improved by www.triggerwork.net
He currently charges $49 for the CETME including return shipping. I tried a low profile scope mount but it was walking all over the place with every shot. I ended up buying the claw mount which is the way to go in my opinion. There are numerous websites selling CETME parts. Some are much more expensive than others so it pays to shop around. My CETME has been very reliable with both the .99 cent surplus aluminum mags from cheaperthandirt.com and the factory steel mags. It will eat up any ammo put through it, so cheap stinky Brown Bear works fine for plinking. It does radically deform shell cases upon ejection so reloading is out of the question. But I believe I have seen a custom part to prevent that.

Thanx RODAX Illdefinately look further int that. I really like the CETME /G93 look and heard good as well as bad. now I have to find a good one.
Is there a way to adjust head space? I was doing some research anf foung that there are problems along this area. I hope if I purchase one I can rely on functionality.
I noticed that TAPCO has some neat aftermarket accessories for this rifle so Im more than a bit piqued about it. I did not want to settle for an AK but wanted full power .308. What is the consensus for the Century Arms andCIA rifles as far as function? Thanks Paul

Bolt Gap

With the CETME rifle they refer to bolt gap and not head space. The gap tends to get smaller over time but can be remedied by purchasing new rollers, bolt head, and/or spring, all of which are relatively inexpensive.

Hey guys, I'm looking to sell my CETME. Anybody have any advice on the best way to legally sell it and do you think anyone would be interested in buying mine?

Really?

I'm a little surprised G00S3...didn't you just get it set up the way you wanted it with the Magpul stock? Do you have your eye on something else? Anyway, here in Arizona we can sell firearms at a garage sale! Private sale is no problem. I don't know about your state. You might have to involve an FFL. Forum member Paul T is considering buying one. Perhaps you should give him a shout.
