so i heard that you can legaly make your own silencers, and all you need is to get a BATF form 1 and then pay the tax stamp. does anyone know if that one tax stamp will cover you to make a few silencers for all your guns? also does anyone know of a book, video, or website that will teach you to make real metal suppressors? |

Sure you can, but one needs to make sure they're legal to own in the state in which they reside is all? Isn't the tax stamp a per item thing?

JMHO, but unless you're a talented machinist with access to a machine shop, you're better off getting the proper tax stamp from the BATF and buying a commercially made suppressor. There's a lot to making one that works, and different calibers have different requirements. They're not a one-size-fits-all kinda thing. You'd be much happier with a well-made item that works good, than something you cobbled up. Be prepared for a large price tag though.

Sweet! I'm trying to get my hands on a Hi-Point .40 carbine (yeah, I know. But it's just for a fun-gun, OK?) and I'd like to see if those can be suppressed.
