collecting autos

I have a question that I'm figuring someone on here can help me out with. If I want to purchase a fully automatic firearm, what license do I need to do that? I don't want to be a dealer, I just want to collect my own. Is this possible?

What state do you live in? Depending, most likely None!
Common misinformation and misperception is that you must have a federal lisc of some sort to own Full Autos or Suppressors - That is B.S.!!! NO such lisc exists! Some few states do have a state lisc requirement.

If you Live in one of the States they are allowed , you will only have to apply to the Government with Fingerprints and Info , Have your Local Chief Law Enforcement Officer sign their approval and Pay the Government the 200.00
Fee for the Tax Stamp...Most Class 3 Dealers will assist you with all of this when you are buying a Full Auto Weapon...And it takes 60 to 120 days usually. Once you get the Tax Stamped Paper , you can Now Own it Legally.
So in Reality, no "License" is Needed...But that Tax Stamped registration Paper IS !!!

If you want cheap and easy access to full auto's become a class 3 dealer. We have 2 of them in our shooting group both are based out of their home, and one of them has even made money on it selling to LEO's.

I have heard a lot of negatives about becoming a class 3 dealer, working out of your home.

You'll have a hard time keeping any dealer-type FFL if you don't have a retail space available for inspection 40 hrs a week. You might look into a license to manufacture. Probably the same cost and no requirement to have a retail space.

But with a lic to Manufacture, can I purchase guns that are previously manufactured? I would think they would be pretty specific about that

The two class 3 guys we have basically signed away their right to privacy. The ATF audits them routinely. The only requirement is a "Vault" which for one of the guys is his living room with 7 safes bolted to the floor. The difference in cost though they say is worth it. Instead of 12k for a full auto M-16 receiver they pay around 2k for a full auto gun and it was manufactured this year, basicly. Its nice to because they sell use suppresors for cost, the tax stamp wait is a b.... about 6 months currently.

this is not the case anymore you can do a trust method and there is no finger printing or prints also you don't have to get the chief of police to sign off on you. pm me any questions and i can walk you through it .
