Are there any 1903 colt pocket pistol people out there?

Howdy,

I just bought one from this forum for $425.00, with 3 workable magazine and a holster. Man says it works, and as a Cowboy, His word is his bond, I trust him. In fact of all the guns I purchased off the internet, I have never been taken. I have made 6 purchases-all have been positive.

I love these little guns. I bought a really nice one about 2 years ago and it was made in 1928. I bought this one the other day and ironically it was made in 1928 also. Hope you all like it.

I got a Colt Pocketlite 380 the other day for 290! Its in excellant condition. Shot it today and its a real good shooter. Myfirst colt, definately not my last either!

My grandfather owned and carried a 1903 .32ACP Colt Pocket Auto when he lived and worked in Washington DC back when it was a kinder and gentler city c.1930s/40's. He performed some work for a number of agencies during World War II including the Treasury Department and the Washington Park Police with that Colt and he had access to the FBI firing range in the old FBI Building. When my grandfather died, my mother inherited it and she gave it to my aunt. I think I might be getting it with my grandfather's double barrel Lefever shotgun. I don't have my grandfather's Colt, but below is an online image of what it looks like.

Here's mine... Vintage 1916 from my Grandfather - I love it! He passed before I could ask him any questions on it..., wish I knew its story. Sorry, I took the pix for the knife and threw it in and few other objects.

My nephew has one, that according to the serial nr was made in early 1904. It's pretty worn on the outside; apparently it was a pocket pistol. But it shoots fine...

It isn't nearly as dirty-colored in person; I think light reflecting through the window is what made the finish look brown instead of blue.

I like the solid feel it has in my hand, and the way it fits. Sometimes I wish I had bought it myself, instead of doing him a favor and telling him about it.

What's the difference between that and the Mustang that I lust after? Wish I would have bought a Mustang when they 1st came out.

I have ben trying to figue that out myself, I am new to colts but I believe the main thing is mine is a single action and the other is dauble action. Could be wrong but there isnt alot of info on these guns from what I am seeing. Probly will give colt a call and ask them, I need to find a conceal carry holster for mine and I am hoping they will point me in the right direction.

Yeah... by the serial # it is 1972 vintage..., it's like Mint! I asked the guy if he thought it was a factory engraving and gold inlay. He told me that he didn't think so as it was better than factory engraving. I have to agree with him as I have seen lots of SA's and a few Pythons and it does look better. My crummy pix's do not do it justice as it has to be seen to be believed.

I plan to use it as I have no safe queens and have some very serious guns that I refuse not to shoot. Hopefully go out tomorrow if my ammo gets here (I found one box locally and they wanted 40 bucks for it..., stinkin' .25 cal!).

Nice, thats good. I like to practice regulary with all my guns. Its been getting expensive lately. I can get my hands on 380 though. So I havnt been able to shoot my colt much. Lol yeah .25 sucks, I was gonna buy a 25 the other day until I realized the ammo situation but if I stumble on a nice colt 25 that wont hold me back.

I have a 1903 Colt 32 that I just had worked on by one of the best gunsmiths in the southeast or country for that matter, Jim Stroh. Here's my question. My gun has a 2104 serial number, which makes it one of the around 4,000 1903 Colts that was actually produced in 1903. Does that increase it's value? If not, I am considering getting it re-finished. It is a little worn-nothing like the pics of the 1904 produced gun above, but still a little worn-I would say about 60-70% blue left.

I was sitting here trying to figure out what the solid, comfortable feel of a 1903 Colt Pocket Pistol reminded me of, and it finally came to me: I was a kid in the fifties, when the original Matchbox model cars came out. Somehow, gripping that 1903 reminds me of having my little fingers wrapped around a Matchbox car in the back yard, and sticking it in my pocket when I came in for lunch. Weird connection I know, but there it is...

I always felt kind of sorry for my sons, growing up with flimsy-feeling plastic toys instead of Matchbox cars and Tonka Toy trucks.

'til now my biggest problem with my dad's old 1903 was magazines. The originals cracked and split beyond repair. Gun show after markets work ok. Shot up the last of my supply of cheap factory ammo and managed to send the extractor off into the boonies. The retaining pin is still in place! Where are best sources of parts for these fine old pistols?

Picked up some 32 acp dies at recent gun show. Not going to pay outlandish prices (small gun shop I frequent wants $25 a box!) so I guess I'll have to add it to my reloading chores
