Question Cartridge Conversion?

Hi guys... I'm new to this so style of shooting so please, bare with me.

I own a Uberti 1851 Navy Colt in the .44 with an octagonal barrel, old ball & cap style. My wish is to be able to get a cartridge conversion cylinder for this to fire the .45LC. Is this a real possibility or am I chasing my tail?

I'd rather convert an 1851 than shoot than a real Colt SAA.

I am also interested (IF I can get the wife to allow) a matching pair of Uberti "Colt" SAA's in .45LC, 5 1/2 barrel 1873 Cattleman matching set for 1059.00 :

Uberti 1873 Cattleman Matching Sets

... is this a good price or do I need to shop around more?

I am also drooling over the 1873 Short Rifle in .45LC. for 1249.00. Is this a good price?

Uberti 1873 Rifle and 1873 Carbine

Kirst and R&D are the only two companies making conversion cylinder that I know of and I don't think they make one to fit the Uberti 1851 in .44 to fire .45 long colt. They just convert the .36 to fire .38 spl. (lite loads).
Now if your revolver was a Pietta 1851 in .44, then the cylinder for the 1860 would fit it.

Uberti doesn't make a 51 in .44

Cimarron sells hand picked guns with a better finish than most cattlman. They sell the old model for 479.70
The old model has a screw to remove the cylinder pin where the new model has a spring loaded lock. Model P SAA* - Cimarron Firearms

Taylors sells the new model for 515.00 and the old model for 440.00 1873 Single Action Revolvers - Taylor's & Co., Inc.
If you shop around you can find them cheaper. Might try gunbroker or gunsamerica.

You are correct, my mistake... it is a Pietta. I found Cimarron after I posted... thanks for the heads up and advice.

I didn't even give that a thought. That's right.
They made some brass framed ones for Navy Arms.

If it is a steel framed model, the 1860 cylinder will fit it.
