Mas36

I recently bought a MAS36 rifle. Anyone else own one? I looked at one from a collection last year and passed on it. I picked up this one several weeks back at an antique gun and militaria show. This one was a 1952 manufactured rifle with grenade launcher.

My buddy has one, from WWII production. Mint condition, and a pretty good shooter. He began reloading for it early on, when ammo was scarce. Now there are sources online that carry it.
I like the tube under the barrel - the stowage for the white flag.

About a year ago, I ran across and purchased an "M" series MAS-36. I know it was manufactured during or shortly after WWII. It never recieved any of the later upgrades which indicates it was probably out of French hands. It also has a green cresent moon and star painted on the stock. I have read that many MAS-36's were taken from and used against the French during the Algerian revolution. I assume mine falls into that category. It is a beautiful well, balanced and accurate rifle.

A lot of MAS rifles were also used in Vietnam by the French in the 50's, I am told.

I'm still kickin' myself in the A** for not buying one when they were available in the mummy-wrap for $59.95.
