| Question about filling out a C&R I recently received a C & R license form and was reading through it. One question kinda caught me as being odd and I was wondering about everyone's opinion or experience with it. Under Question #10, 18 C. Are you in possession of a valid hunting license or permit lawfully issued in the United States? 1. If you answered "NO" you likely cannot lawfully possess a firearm and therefore cannot be a federal firearms licensee. 2.If you answered "Yes", complete the following information, and attach a copy of the hunting license or permit to the application. In a word, "HUH?" Did I get the right application? I have a valid Illinois FOID card, but haven't planned to get a hunting license until March when the new ones are available. Why should possessing a hunting license preclude me to owning a firearm? I don't necessarily want to hunt a lot although I wouldn't mind doing a little deer and rabbit hunting next year. If I have to get a hunting license in order to collect the antique guns that I love then I will, but this really seemed like a strange requirement to getting a C & R license. Any one have any experience with this that could help me. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. RH |

| Senior Member ![]() | Thats the Gov't for you...I would think that your FOID would be a "Valid ...Permit". Rich ( since it reads "OR"...)

| Wondered about that, but not certain. It has blanks underneath it for 'hunting license number or permit". Permit could perhaps include a FOID card, though.

| Just because you don't have a hunting license or FOID card doesn't mean you can't legally own a firearm. Most states do not issue gun permits, you're just allowed to have them. Granted, if you want to go hunting, or CCW, you better have a license for that. |

| In TN you are not required to have a hunting license if you hunt on your own property. |

| Redhead, I got my form in the mail today. I read question #10 as being applicable to someone who is a nonresident alien, so we leave that one blank if we are a citizen. Am I reading that correctly? |

| I hope you are. It kind of looks strange when you look at it though. It's still a bit cryptic though the way they have it listed under question 10. All I know is that I want to get it filled out and in the mail ASAP so I can get a TT-33...an Enfield...another Mosin..or two. .

| That is correct, Ive had mine for several years and that part confused me too, Just have to read very carefully.leave everything blank about nonresident alien. You also have to give a copy to your cheaf law enforcement officer in your area. Mine was the local sherrif.and each time you renew you have to give them a copy. |
