Do I record a parts gun?

Hello,
I bought three m24/47 part guns (the $50 apiece ones) hoping to make one complete, or making a custom gun. My question is do I record a C&R parts gun? And if they come in complete, do I record that one also, since it's suppoedly a parts gun?

Also, if I buy a Bubba'd Yugo sks, is it still C&R.
Thanks for the clarification!!!!

You need to record them because you are getting the receivers, I would think.

I think the Yugo would still be a C&R because the receiver is still a C&R.

if you ordered it with your license, you need to record it.

The yugo sks was bought at a pawn shop. They don't accept C&R liscence's. The dust cover has been replaced with a scope mount one.
I ordered the Mausers with my C&R liscence.

The way I understand things is that if you get a C&R gun you have to record it. The pawn shop won't accept your C&R but I don't think that matters. My point being that you don't use your C&R. You are licensed.

That's correct.. Doesn't matter if you use your license to buy it or not. If you buy it and you're licensed, you have to record it.

I wondered about this around 9 months ago and someone here actually showed me the ruling in the book that states that all C and R eligible weapons purchased while you're a license holder must be recorded, whether you used your license to buy it or not..

So, now I record all eligible guns no matter where I purchased them.

My question would be wither the the Bubba yugo is still a C&R. Also, if the parts guns were not fairly complete - like with stock, they may not have been C&R eligible. If they were eligible, then yes they should be recorded.

I "think" that as long as there's a receiver from a eligible gun on it, it's recordable..

That's how I'm playing it, anyway..

I found this to be interedting about having the granade launcher sights removed. Suposedly it removes the C&R status.

Nope. But if you were to sell it while licensed (which I doubt you woud because it belonged to your dad) that is a murkier issue.

recieve guns

If your a 03 ffl you must record all guns bought or given to you while you hold this license,, anything you owned previously doesnt need to be logged unless you sell it while you have the CR..read up on your booklet a lot of good info in it ! hope this helps

You are in a real "gray" area. If those rifles are not complete they are no longer considered C&R (read the rules it is clearly stated) How many parts have to be missing before it is no longer C&R ? That is up to you to interpet or contatc the ATF. Also the receiver alone is not C&R it must be shipped to a FFL if you decide to sell it.
I broke down a Garand for parts and this is what the ATF told me: Record in your book"broke down for parts" record who I sold the reciever to even no longer C&R elidgeable, and it must be shipped to a FFL not a C&R
