| Checking on C&R status I am trying to check on the status of my C&R application. I called the service center and inquired. The nice lady I first talked to gave me my reference number and then transfered me to the clerk handling my application. Of course, voice mail. I left a message. That was Wednesday. I called again thursday and Friday. No response. I am wondering if anyone else has had this much trouble getting a return call? OK, I'll answer my own question. Finally got in touch with someone. Took calling every hour or so all morning to finally get in touch with a live human being. She said that it is taking at least 90 days to process. So, no major trouble, just taking time to get through the red tape. So, we wait.

| Mine came in about 32 days. I was lucky. Just be patient, it will come eventually. It takes lots of time for some people.

| Mine took more than four months, half a dozen emails, three phone calls and a call to my congressman's district office before it showed up. Of course, New York does things its own way. My observation is the more gun-friendly your state is, the faster your C&R license shows up in your mailbox. Floks in the South and the Southwest have little trouble. People who have the misfortune to live in one of the Peoples Democratic Republics like California, New York and Massachusetts have long waits. I won't come out and say the idea is for the BATFE to take your money and hope you get discouraged and not follow up on your application, but one does rather gather that impression from the glacial slowness with which they process applications from the PDRs. | Aother thing to consider is, if your background check hits any snags at all, they have to research it. This could be something as simple as your last name being the same as a known felon's, a speeding ticket in excess of $100, a prior arrest, a prior restraining order, etc., etc., etc.

| Well, I thought that was a given, LOL! I waited 4 months for mine! So if you're at 4-6 weeks be happy! The bottom line is, it's worth waiting for, and that is for sure.
