| C&R Sales to California
I have noticed that some C&R gun ads on line state no sales to California. What is the reason behind this when the sale seems perfectly legal?

Here's my take on it: First, CA has its own definition of C&R guns. Long guns must be over 50 years old (never mind if BATFE has classified it as C&R) and cannot have a combination of features that make it an "assault rifle" under California law. Might be confusing to someone not familiar with CA laws. Second, all handguns shipped to California must be transfered by an 01 license holder, does not matter if the actual buyer has a C&R or not. Third, for an out of state vendor to ship to a CA 01 holder, the sender must go through a process with the CA DOJ to certify that the receiving party holds a proper license, kind of a PITA. The language of that requirement is vague enough that it might be read that this is required before shipping to an 03 holder as well (not true, but a possible misunderstanding). I'd chalk it up to a combination of ignorance of what's legal here combined with a system that is kind of a pain, along with a little "screw CA anyway" sentiment. But mainly that some believe they can't sell to CA and still cover their butt. So to avoid any risk, "no sales to CA." |

Big dissapointment, there have been rifles that i wouldve clicked the "buy it now" option, but big surprise - they wouldnt ship to CA, even though its a legal firearm here.

| Its a shame, but I think it also may have to do with distributors just not wanting to deal with the hassle at all, so they don't do it.

People are so sick of red tape and fees it keeps many of us from trying to start a new small business and realize our dreams. My house and small shop [detached garage] are zoned commercial but i could never afford to make it comply with all the ordinances and fees. But we must be protected from ourselves! we might run with scissors and there goes an eye! |

CA won't allow certain C&R firearms, such as the Yugoslavian SKS (scary grenade launcher!)

In order to own a gun you have to have a reason. Sportsman (target) can only own guns that are related to the sport. So if you are in the local pistol team you cannot own a rifle. if you are in a rifle team but the local gun range only has a rimfire range, you can only own a rimfire. As a hunter you are limited to a rifle and a shotgun. BTW a hunting license will cost around $5000 to get a permit. then you pay an annual fee. There are no open hunting lands. You have to lease a hunting property. On the hunting property (usually made up of farming areas) you are responsible for all damage that game does, so if the wild boar eat up a field you need to pay the farmer for the damages. It is also illegal to wash your car in your driveway. For the northerners... it is illegal to idle your car for more than 2 minutes. If you refuse to give a breath test, they can beat you into submission and take a blood test. I am looking forward to moving back and going through the little "red tape". and breakfast eating at IHOP.

Move east to Nevada and hope that Kali breaks off and floats away, that way you'll have waterfront property.

| To Sgtsquid, Funny you should say that. I once had a girlfriend that lived in California and her mother was into astrology and she figured out when CA was going to fall off into the ocean, so they all moved back to Utah during the period that it was supposed to happen, well it didn’t and they all moved back and as far as I know it was still there two days ago when I spoke to my brother. Oh and by the way, were you taking the scenic route to Nevada? When I flew from Germany to Nevada we went WEST. Just thought I would mention it. Roy |

Roy[/QUOTE] Not really Roy, if you flew West you passed over Nevada to get to Kali, if you wanted to Go To Nevada from Kali, you would travel East. I feel like this is a sixth grade math question! |

Somehow I don't think San Bruno is a very pro-gun city... still in light of the budget crisis, it might work better to split the state in two. The southern part can be the 51st state, and take all their problems with them.

Sorry guys, Nor Cal is where the problems are. Liberal beyond belief around the SF Bay areas and last time I checked Sacramento was in Nor Cal.

![]() i think some research needs to be done and see just who's responsible for the assnine gun laws we have now. other than oakland and san fran, most towns anywhere near me seem to be favorible towards guns. i allways just assumed it was so-cal voting them into laws. they're the ones with all the bank robberies and shootouts and way more gang warfare than we'll ever see.

| Sgtsquid, my mistake, I thought you were answering 99dragon, the guy from Germany, since I did reference Germany in my response. More like a sixth grade geography question. |

Well, there are gun friendly neighbors to the north and east of CA. Good luck to those that live in CA, hopefully it won't get much worse
