Love the collection. Several questions 1) Am I wrong in remembering that New Zealand has some EXTREMELY restrictive laws regarding handguns? 2) Why are you missing part of the gas system on the VZ-58s? Does NZ also restrict Semi-Auto centrefire rifles? That all being said, I am looking into getting a bunch of CZ's soon, starting with a VZ-52 (Despite the problems regarding availability of ammunition). I think that the Czech rifles are some of the most beautiful rifles in the world.

You are quite correct. While I have others, several are not in any of these photos, I do not have an 82. As I said this is a start of a collection. I do realise that there are many that I don’t have and I do hope to one day get a decent collection together. | |

| FS00008 1) Restrictive yes, EXTREMLY no. If you jump through all the hoops and keep things on the straight and narrow then it’s not impossible. There are many things that we conform to that are different than you guys have. Over all, it’s not all bad. In fact we even like to think that there are some benefits to things being a bit restrictive. Perhaps it makes it a bit harder for the creeps that don’t deserve to have firearms. There are a lot of extra police checks so not all firearms owners can get them. 2) There are several NZ laws surrounding military style selective fire’s. The 58’s are not just semi auto but also full auto. While all the walls and ceiling of my room are steel lined and the room is surrounded with security inside and out I also take extra precautions with the full autos and handguns. The handguns are in a safe fixed to the floor and I put the bolts of the full autos in the safe as well. No harm in being extra careful. Good spotting by the way. Great to see you are getting a “bunch” of CZ’s soon. How many are in a bunch? The last handful of Czechs I got came from the USA. Took about 2 ½ years to get them out as well so I guess you guys have your own problems. There was no problem for me bring them into NZ other than getting you guys to let them go. Ten came in that handful including three anniversary models. A 550 70th anniversary 30-06, one of 500 to be made. It is the only one known to escape from Europe and it has been doubted that they ever made the full 500. There was also a CZ 75 anniversary 9mm, one of 1000 made. Another was the 452 70th anniversary model of which only 70 were made. All 70 went to the USA and I think I have the only one to escape from you guys. It sits next to my 50th edition 452 which is very similar. |

I didn't notice that they were select fire and not the semi-autos that are prevalent here. Nice! And with regards to the NZ laws, might I have been getting them mixed up with the Australian laws regarding handgun ownership?
