Well I am about to go over to the local gun shop and see what he has on his shelves. I am also thinking about trading in my M44. I like it but it's not very practical. I can use it just fine for long range shooting but I don't go hunting and the only time I take it out is when I feel like beating up my shoulder. LOL. I am also looking at the Walther P1/P38. I think it's a cool gun and have always liked the looks of it.

Well I'm back ! I took the 2 CZ 82's to ma hunting grounds and really enjoyed shooting these nice pistols, they equally shot the same and it's so fast to recover when you shoot, before you know it your magazine is empty.
I shot both 25 times each and wished I could of shot more but I wouldn't have any ammo left.
While I was 3 miles from the Louisiana border, I went to a border town and bought 4 PowerBall tickets and 15 scratch off's.
I didn't win nuddin !!!...A.H

Say, Fellers, MY CZ82 handles and shoots beautifully. It makes this old shooter look good! Only thing is, when I cock it, the slide hits the hammer to complete the cocking. Is this normal to the CZ82? Info would be nice.

CZ-82

I got my CZ-82 from AIM, and it is in wonderful condition, almost like a new pistol. I liked it so much I put my glock 19 9mm into the safe, and am using the CZ-82 as my (civilian) carry piece.

So I ordered another, this time from Classic Arms (an outfit that has done well by me in the past). They advertised it as Excellent condition, but I guess I was spoiled by the AIM piece, because the second one was pretty well used -- Good, or by a stretch, Very Good. I returned it, complaining that this one wasn't even close to Excellent. The replacement was in even rougher condition.

Different importer, different batch, I'd guess. I'll keep this one (like, I got the message....) and use it as the carry piece, and put the AIM piece away in the safe, so I can take it out and gaze lovingly at it ....

My guess is that AIM, being so much larger than Classic, gets to pick and choose much more than the little guy. I generally like to buy from the little guy, but this time, it jammed me up. Ah, well......

The CZ82 definitely has polygonal rifling. Mine looks like a smoothbore...

UPDATE on my CZ 82 !!! Last Tuesday I ordered a 25 round box of Hornady 9X18 Mak
95 gr. JHP/XTP. and picked up Thursday.
I took it with me Deer hunting this afternoon and come 4:45 I had to shoot my gun with this new ammo. I haven't tried this brand before.
I set up a target that I had brought along, I stepped back about 15 feet and shoot at a 25 cent piece dot I drew with a marker.
My pistol hit dead center on the Black dot.
I only shot 2 times and the bullet holes over lapped.
I will shoot again tommarow at futher distances...A.H

I shoot my buddies this week - I am hooked. I will be ordering one later this month - after payday. Very nice pistol - I kept the entire mag inside the 9 ring on a silhouette target at 25 yards off handed - that is good enough for me. The pistol will likely shoot better than that - I was having an off day. My only complaint is that it tended to bite the web of my right hand. I could maybe change the way I hold it to fix that. Does anyone know where to find a good carry holster made for the CZ-82?

I found a CA-83 at the Gun Show this past weekend. I bought it. I already had a .380 acp. I thought that would be the way to go for now. It is the military version - identical to the CZ-82 in every way except it is in .380 acp. Reading back in the above post - I noticed that the CZ-82 has polygonal riflings - I think the CZ-83 has regular ballard cut riflings. I will look into that. I did not get a chance to shoot it yet. It looks really nice - it was imported by CAI (very good condition). It don't think it is C&R eligible. I cleaned it up last night (lots of dust and crud) - hopefully I will get to shoot it Saturday - if the wife doesn't find something for me to do. I paid $220 (including tax) for it, but I only got one mag and no holster. I still may order a CZ-82 on my C&R next month - I was thinking it would be kinda cool to have one in each caliber. I picked up a couple other cool toys at the show - I will post on them after I carry them to the range. It was a good weekend!!

Bad Day at the Range with my CZ-82

After shooting my 82 several times flawlessly, I had 4 jams last Saturday. I am in the process of breaking it down for cleaning/inspection and plan to mark the mags to see if a pattern develops.

I was almost as disappointed in the CZ as I was in my shooting .

I've been using Wolf ammo and consistently, so I suspect ammo is not the culprit.

I picked up an 82 from Centerfire and had a gunsmith check it out. It looked good until it was fired. On 2 of the first 5 rounds, the hammer fell to half cock and had to be re-cocked (SA) to fire. Pistol cycled perfectly, ejected, chambered, just woldn't hold full cock. Sigh.. Centerfire said return it and they would repair or replace, my choice. Can't fault them for that. Certainly shoots nice and you can't beat the price of the ammo. Not as cheap as the ammon for my CZ 52 but...

I wish everybody that buys them, buy them from AIM SURPLUS they have the cream of the crop CZ 82's for $ 209.00.
I found a site yesterday that was trying to sell them for $ 299.00 and the picture of the pistol was all chipped up. Very used looking.

SilverRun you did very good !!! The ammo for yours will be readily available.

Oppy and johnc sorry to hear about your problems and i hope they can be fixed.

Well, centerfire had them for $159.00 and I'm really not concerned with some finish flaking off because I was going to GunKote it anyway. Hey, its a mechanica device and subjet to wear. Everything else was new, both mags and a really nice leather holster...not my style but nice with all acceptance stamps. So, I rolled the dice... if I had wanted a new gun, I would have purchased a new gun. Not bitter, not unset, s%&#t happens.

Here's a picture of it before I sold it.

I'm getting ready to sell mine. I really like it, but it just doesn't fit into my plans. I need a smaller, lighter gun to pocket carry (my Bersa T380CC). When I get up to the size and weight of the CZ82, I can go all the way to standard 9mm (Bersa UC9). I also have three fullsize 9mm pistols and a milspec 1911 45ACP. That's not even counting my revolvers or the other pistols I plan to sell.

The CZ82 is a great little pistol, but the deciding factor was the 9x18 Mak round. Not very many choices of ammo, not as readily available if things get tough. If I had the CZ83 in .380Auto, I would probably keep it.

I am not disparaging the CZ82, though. It was a tough decision! But I've just got too many firearms to keep them all.

Talking CZ82 holster

If you'd like to carry your new CZ82 in something besides the strange thing that came with it I can recommend a DeSantis 002 D6. I don't think it was made for it, but it might as well be. It is a three belt slot pancake. It is a good fit and has a tension screw just behind the trigger guard.

Silver, please don't shoot your buddies this week. They won't appreciate it and you will get in a bunch of trouble.
