My CZ52 pair

Here's a pic of my 2 Czech-o-matics together:

The Chrome one from Classic Arms:

And the new one that I got today.

Manufacture year is 54. Has the Z on the trigger guard (can't remember what that means) and looks like it may have been re-arsenaled in '97. The 9 I'm fairly sure of but the second digit not so much... This thing is black, almost as if it has been duracoated. The dealer said that he bought it as an excellent condition piece. The bore seems to be good in it but not sure about the trigger return, it felt wonky compared to the chrome pistol...

At one time I had 7 of them...all 3 yrs in gray...all 3 yrs in black, plus an xtra black....had to ditch all but 1 a few yrs ago when I was laid off....

Nice, the black looks almost like what I've seen of Gunkote finishes, though not quite as smooth.

How I love CZs. I have a 52 and an 82. My next is going to be the 75B.

The little 'Z' mark means it's been through the military refurb process. These are all usually parkerized, while unrefurbed are often blued - though I've never seen one of those. Mine is the black park finish, '54 dated.
Good guns, and Sportsman's Guide has a good deal on the 800-round case of ammo.

Beer Forever: I came within an inch of getting a 75B. It was LNIB chambered for .40S&W and stainless. They were asking $450. I almost got it.

Big Dog: I just bought a spam can of Romanian this week, so I should be good for a few days.

Not sure if it's done the same as a CZ-52, but the year is on the right side of frame, just forward of the trigger guard.

Got the new one to the outdoor range today. All I can say is, "Wow, this thing shoots nice." After shooting it then inspecting it closer while cleaning, I'm not sure that this one has been fired since the re-arsenal. The date stamp appears to be 97 (the 9 is clear but the 7 isn't) and there is very little wear, the rollers that would barely move yesterday because of sharp edges, are smooth as silk now, and the general lack of wear leaves me wondering... Any after about 120 rounds, it shot right where I pointed it, especially the first few mags. After that it started shooting low but as low as my other. All-in-all, I'd have to say, good-buy

I'm another CZ fan. Got a CZ52, dated 52 with issue markings. Didn't see any rearrsenal date, I look again tonight. She's a little worn but shoots just fine. Also have a 97B (45ACP) and a 453 Varmint (22LR) to keep it company. All three are reliable and accurate. Use the 97B for bowling pins and steel. The 453 is great for chasing an empty shotgun hull around a field at 50 yards or so. The '52 is just for fun. Keeps everybody awake at the range, especially with hot handloads

I could be wrong - NRAJoe would know . . .
But I think they were only made in three years - 1952, 1953 and 1954. So that '7' is likely a worn '2'.

They were only made in '52, '52, '54 but they were re-arsenaled all through their service life. This one was made in '54 it's the re-arsenal date I'm talking about. I'll have to see if I can get a decent shot of it later to post.

Mine is a '53 original made at the czech factory. '52-'54 was when they were originally produced, but many have been rearsenaled to replace wear parts and replace malfunctioning decockers. They stamp the rearsenal date on them.

I want one in the parkerized or phosphate finish (ie:Grey) just like my beloved M1911. Think it just may happen! I'd really prefer the wooden grip panels I've seen on a couple samples I've handled. Nothing but a personal preference is all I just think wood feels beeter in the hand.

Very nice! I have a few (8) and have never been disappointed in their function or accuracy. From the hard shooting, to the distinctive BOOM, they are definitely a serious piece of work. Like to try the 9mm conversion on a couple, but haven't yet. Ezearln, I know for sure SOG has the gray park 52's. Three of the four I got from them had the phosphate finish(2 in August). The only blued one I asked for. As far as the wood grips, little pricey for me, but I agree, The feel of wood is just "comforting" ........
