Why is my CZ 50 brown? Before anyone asks; I'm not referring to the grips. The slide of my pistol is a brown (almost bronze) finish; while the rest of the gun is a uniform blue-black. The serial numbers are all matched so the slide isn't from another 50. The surface isn't pitted, so I don't think it's rust. I'd appreciate any explanations or insights.

I'm speculating that you may be looking at two different alloys of steel that didn't accept the final finish in the same manner. I have a CZ-83 whose frame looks like polished bluing but the slide (which seems to be a steel casting) is darker black. It could also be a matter of slightly different finishes and/or finishing steps. Anyone else have an idea?

Thanks Fred, I may have the slide re-blued if I can find somewhere that will do it for a reasonable cost. I'm new to all this and I'm uncomfortable with doing it myself. On the other hand, the two-tone look gives it character.
