Issue with my dpms lr-308b

Whenever I go shooting with my .308 anymore it seems that after I put a 20 round magazine through it, it starts having problems. It either won't feed in the next shell, or do a partial feed and jam, or it will completely skip over the round and leave an empty chamber.

It doesn't seem to be the same magazine that does it every time, so I am curious if there could be any other causes?

I had the same problem with mine.
But it seems to be limited to, only a couple of the 19rd magazines.
The other and small magazines, don't ever have issues.

Do you know if using the mag-pul magazines solves this issue? I've been planning on getting a couple and if they solve the problem, then I might do it sooner rather than later.

I know this post is a little on the old side, but I had pretty much the same problem with my LR-308T. When I first got the gun it would jam or fail to feed when i got down to the last few rounds of either of the 19-rd mags. I took the mags apart and stretched the springs a little and put them back together. I also took the bolt apart and checked the gas rings inside to find that the ring gaps were all aligned with each other, which was most likely the problem. After staggering the ring gaps, I put everything back together and and went shooting and the rifle eagerly digested every round in 5 full mags with no issue at all. Since then I've put around 2,000 rounds down the pipe with only the occasional hiccup with some 20 year old milsurp (which is to be expected, I guess). I hope this might help somebody having the same issues.

That is a CRITICAL issue in ALL AR style rifles. The ring gaps need to be staggered at all times.

I check them every time I pull the BCG out for cleaning the rifle.

I was told by several of our CATM guys, many of which who went to the Colt Armorer school, that it doesn't have that big of an effect. I've had no issues with my personal AR when I purposely aligned the gaps on my bolt, as well as a few different issue rifles, M-16A2, M-4, and GUU-5P. None of those rifles ever had any issue when the gas rings were aligned.

Well I am no expert, but I assume the guy that wrote the DPMS owner’s manual is. Reference pages 18 and 35 regarding the need to stagger the gas rings. Long story short - do it. Here is a link to the manual http://stevespages.com/pdf/dpms_manual.pdf

I don't claim to be an expert, although I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, I'm just relaying what I have learned in my 11 years of carrying an AR as well as what I have gained from my own personal experience and experiments.

I'm an expert. I have a certificate.

Doesn't matter.
