i owned an Armalite AR10 for years, and sold it off to a buddy that had more use for it. about 3 months later, i really started to miss it! ! since i had good luck with a DPMS upper i went out and bought a LR-308 a few years back and love it. i mainly shoot iron sights from the bench, and used to compete out to 500 yds before my eyes started to go, but hears 2 groups i printed at 200 yds with my LR-308 as you see it, and some CorBon factory out of the box target loads.............

i got the lr classic 308. mine does a cool 2 1/4 inch 10 shot group with reloads. 147 bulk purchase fmj bu metal and 44.5 gr h4895. awsome gun. the 174 gr sniper pulls do much better but i can only contest to 50 yd groups with those. the 147s was shot at 100
My brother is getting an AR-10 platform in the future. He has it narrowed down to RRA or Bushmaster. He has apparently picked the two due to the use of FAL inch or metric mags.
You will need to put about 200 rounds through it before you can tell just how good of groups it can do. After every 25 or so shots clean & repeat till about 200 have been fired through it.
I have a DPMS LR-308 with a 24" SS heavy barrel and a Bushnell 4200 variable scope 6-16 or something like that. The best group I have ever fired was 5 shots into 3/4" at 100 yds using Federal Match ammo off sandbags. It's a nice rifle but heavy at around 10.5# base weight. I have an extended latch I want to put on to make it easier to retract the bolt. I'd also like to put on iron sights but may just purchase a different upper. I find that the first round out of a cased rifle and cold barrel prints about two inches off where the previous rounds printed when firing warm. I'm told that is typical but I really don't know. Just my experience.
Well, I got a Bushmaster LR .308 made by same company as DPMS. It takes their mags. Here is my new hunting gun. Bushmasters have always had a great barrel.
