I like my DPMS, but I like my RRA a lot more. This was my first AR that introduced me to the black rifle disease. Now I have another and have one in the works.

Wink

I've done some of my best work at the Houston gunshow over the years.

The deal payed off for me. I'll take an AR for a knife any day.

I got one!

And so did my son. We bought them about six months apart from the same gun store. They had a bunch of AR’s on the shelf. This one had all the features I wanted: M4gery, detachable carry handle, two 30 rd, mags, hard case, and cleaning kit. For $749. I was happy with the shooting. My son and I went to a mini-appleseed and sited them in and we both Qualified with the AQT. I did some research on the web and found that DPMS was hated as equally as any other. Seemed ok to me. Knowing what I know: I would buy one again.

Why did I get one? Because I'm American and I'm free to do so if I please!

Plus the politics of 2009 aren't looking good right now, so there might not be a later for me.

I bought mine because Obama asked me not buy any more firearms......

"I believe in common-sense gun safety laws, and I believe in the second amendment," Obama said at a news conference. "Lawful gun owners have nothing to fear. I said that throughout the campaign. I haven't indicated anything different during the transition. I think people can take me at my word."

Problem is I believe the past tells the future, and his past says future restrictive gun laws. Not to mention his idea of common sense includes 57 states and letting home grown terrorist run the education system.......

Then there is this gem....

Quote:
H.R. 45 Filed on First Day of New Congress

Representative Bobby Rush (D-IL) filed a comprehensive anti-gun wish-list bill in the 111th Congress on its first day in session. No sooner were the new members of Congress sworn in than Mr. Rush, a former Black Panther leader, file his bill which he calls the "Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009". The bill has no cosponsors and was automatically referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

If passed, this bill would require that anyone wishing to purchase, own, or possess a "qualifying firearm" - that's any handgun, and any long gun capable of accepting a detachable magazine - would have to be licensed by the state or the federal government in a licensing program managed by the Attorney General. To get a license you would have to prove you're you, provide a passport-style photo, a thumbprint, and take a written exam which includes questions about firearms safety, safe storage, the risks of firearms ownership, and anything else the Attorney General deems appropriate. All transfers would be required to go through a licensed dealer with the exception of occasional gifts or bequests between parents, children (18 or over), and grandparents, or loans of not more than 30 days between "persons who are personally known to one another." (It actually says that. I'm not making this up.) And all transfers would have to be recorded in a "Transfer Record" established and maintained by the Attorney General.
The bill also makes it a crime for a dealer to have shoddy records or fail to appropriately cooperate with any inspectors. It makes failure to report the loss or theft of a firearm within 72 hours a felony punishable by up to 2 years in prison. Failure to keep a firearm locked up in such a way as to keep it inaccessible to anyone under 18 becomes a federal felony too.

I bought my 1st "Black Rifle" on 11/05/2008 because of the outcome of the election. I have owned more rifles, shotguns & handguns than I care to admit over the last 40+ years. I have had a Concealed Carry License since 1992. I just never wanted, needed or dreamed that I could ever enjoy shooting an AR style rifle, was I ever wrong! This new DPMS Panther is rapidly becomming my favorite rifle, overcomming any number of super accurate bull barrel varmint rifles & super trick compact carry handguns, as well as a gun vault full of cowboy rifles & single action Colts. I now go to sleep each night thinking of which new black rifle I will try to order next only to have the local Scheels store tell me that I will have to wait months for delivery! Oh well, better late than never. I'm glad I found out how much fun these are! Now if only Eotech sights wern't always on backorder as well!
