So I can retain the spring and buffer that came in the riffle, and use them on say a CAA CBST Collapsible butt stock w/ tube assembly? Shown here: http://www.cgwgun.com/Command-Arms-A...ock__CBST.aspx I have that, so with your permission, I will try it. Thanks!

I made the switch. Just takes a minute or two. Where do I get a carbine 308 buffer and spring? Time to go looking again!

Found the buffer & buffer spring at R & R Arms for 39 & change including freight. Found a buffer retainer (who knows where the hell that went) at Midwest for something, receipt did not print. Found a DPMS tool to disassemble and reassemble my riffle from one to the other for 36 bucks. The joys of fiddling!

I'm sorry, I think I may not have been clear enough in my response. The rifle you mentioned in your original post has a standard fixed stock with standard buffer tube, buffer and spring, none of which will work with a collapsible stock. I was pointing out that the DPMS LR-308 uses all of the same buffer tubes as an AR15 (standard, commercial carbine or milspec carbine). You could use your spare tube on an AR15 with a standard stock without issue. The buffer and spring are specific to 308's however and will not function on an AR15. | |

I understand. I have ordered a 308 spring and buffer for the collabsable stock.

The carbine spring and buffer came in today. Just takes a minute to install. Easy. But watch for the buffer retaining pin & spring. Also one other spring. Watch a you tube video before you attempt to do this yourself, or you could loose springs. Before and after pic below. Not a great deal over a hundred bucks in the update. The thing I like best is this stock is about two inches longer than the stock stock in the fully extended position. Six positions to choose from. (never said stock stock before) lol In the collapsed position, it is a great deal shorter, fits in my case better. Stock: CAA brand model CBST Buffer & Spring R&R arms ![]()
