lr308 ap4 scope

looking for a good scope for an lr308 ap4. (the M4 on steroids) does anybody have any recomendations. it would also be use for hunting deer and elk

It really depends on the range you intend to hunt at. For myself anything under 10x is too wimpy for ranges over 100 yards, but my eyes aren't what they used to be.

It really boils down to personal preference. Take a look through as many scopes as you can. Keep in mind the field of view and the reticule. 30mm tubed scopes generally have faster target acquisition and a larger field of view. They'll also normally let more light through when zoomed in at maximum power, giving you a brighter picture.

The reticule can also be a big deal, especially at long ranges, since it will cover a small portion of your target up close, but a much larger portion at distance. You may also want one with bullet drop compensation.

Generally anything from Nikon, Leupold or Burris will serve you well. There are a lot of manufacturers out there and you do "generally" get what you pay for.

thanks very much i saw the burris laser rangefinder scope and like it. expensive though
