7.62 NATO is .308....I had one and it was A good rifle, the only drawback was I could never find stripper clips for the Nato round !

I bought a nice one back in March for $100 otd...very nice condition, all matching numbers and wood except for the buttstock being a lighter color. Haven't fired her yet but I like to look at her often (more than I can say for the wife) I got a bunch of the S.African NATO surplus .308 to fire in it. Mine looks alot like this one even down to the "61" on the buttstock: http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting...ishy/index.asp Alot of good info....:right:

I have owned two over the years. The first one was pretty accurate, 1-1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. The second one has scattered bulets pretty bad, as in 4 inch groups at 100 yards. Even using .308 nato ammo. I am working up a load it likes. Best results so far is with a 175 grain bullet. The groups are down to about 2 inches now and getting smaller. It is a solid reliable weapon. I have no compaints with either of the two I bought. If you like it, buy it. It ain't gon'na spoil while you're gone. Nick |

yeah that is true but I won't be back from basic and tech. training 'till about march. I could be done sooner than march, or I could be done later, I don't know.

I did 8 years in the USAF back in 70-78. They have rifle ranges on the base and shotgun, ranges too. Check it out, maybe after you get to your first permenant duty station, you can take your weapon with you. I think it will have to stay in the base armory when you aren't using it. Besides, it might be sold while you're gone. Nick |

that looks like a nice shooter. Maybe I will pick it up and quit listening to what my dad says about me buying firearms. I'm not disrespecting him, I'm just gonna do what I want to since I can buy firearms.
