| Sporterized 1917 Eddystone New Member I just aquired a sporterized 1917 Eddystone from a local pawn shop. Here's what I know about the rifle:
I shot the rifle with reduced loads this past weekend and it functioned fine. Next range visit I will try 49grs of IMR 4350 pushing a 150 Nosler Spitzer BT. If everything goes well, I would like to mount a scope. Will the oval hole at the receiver rear affect scope mounting. I am interested in a two piece scope mount and am not sure about that oval hole. One gunsmith service even offers "filling oval hole" as a service. Is this necessary to install a mount. I want the finished rifle to not only preform great, but also look great. The rifle is in VERY GOOD condition presently and I want to take it even further. Would love to hear ANY comments, suggestions or opinions on this post. I can use all the help I can. ![]() Last edited by davemarse; 12-13-2006 at 05:04 PM. Reason: Adding pic |

| I don't think that I would ever cut up an original "anything". I love and respect history. My guess is that this was done many years ago as were so many. I think that with more work she will just get better. Thanks for you comments. |
