Weird Pitting in Enfield

Hello,
I was wondering if any of you have this type of problem.
The bore of my no4 mk1 is decent except that it has about a quarter inch pitted ring about right under the front sight. I thought that it was wierd. And how would it affect accuracy?

I have a hunch that may be a plac that has expanded in the barrel or else something was lodged there for a long time.Have a good gunsmith look at it before firing. sam.
