Original finish for an Enfield No4 MK 1/2

I've done all the reading to decipher the stampings but am having trouble finding the correct metal finish. I have been told it was painted. Can anyone enlighten me on this subject? It was (F) FTR /51 if that would make a difference.

Parkerized or painted with Suncorite. Depends on who owned it. A Brit rifle could have either. I think Brownell's sells Suncorite or a version of it.
