| removal of buttstock?
Hi all I'd like to remove the buttstock of my "Bubba'd" #4Mk1* so that I can strip the awful finish from it. (it has a reddish hue-what did they use on the wood to make it look like rosewood?? )Anyways, I know that you have to remove the forearm and other lumber before attempting to pull off the buttstock, but other than that, is there any other precautions I should undertake? Also, how hard is it to get that big ol' slotted screw back into position to secure the butt? Any tricks to that to make it easier? |

Use the right tool for the job #1 Sometimes , there might be a leather washer on top of the bolt head that will have to be fished out. The way the stock is made will guide the bolt home but I like to see abit of the bolt tip before I put back in place....otherwise , there's no prob

Paul, your timing was perfect. I am going to replace or refinish the wood on my Logbranch and I was unsure how to remove and reassemble it.

I just went though my first complete disassembly. I bought a long square shafted screw driver and used an adjustable wrench on the shaft to help loosen it. It was pretty easy with the right tool!

It takes a 12" screw driver. If the leather washer is still there a length of bent wire coat hanger will take it out.

try one of those sloted tire tools they work great for a screw driver you get a lot of leverage too.

| Couldn't you just stand 2" further away??? I used a 17" screw driver and it still worked and I was still in the same room!

I once offered to trim my neighbours tree for him (it dumps half of it's leaves into my garden every fall) I said I'd only take a couple of feet off; he didn't realise I meant off the bottom. He still doesn't speak to me!
