| NEED A LITTLE HELP WITH MY ENFIELD I just bought a No.1 Enfield rifle and in all the pictures I've seen of them they has a brass badge on the butt, yet my rifle has no brass badge. Also the year stamped on the rifle is 1946, I did not know the No. 1 was made that late. The man I bought it from told me it used to have a grenade launcher on it and you see where the wire was wrapped around the stock. It also has a bolt through the stock. Could someone help me ID this gun |

No. 1 MkIII rifles originally had a brass regimental disc until the British realized that the disc was giving the Germans strategic information when the rifles were captured. Sounds like your rifle was rebuilt in '46, not originally made in '46. |

India made No1's well into the late '80's , and with your description ( wirewrap , bolt through the stock )it sounds like an Ishapore. What are the stamps on the receiver ring?
