| Nice work ! ![]() A nicely done early Savage/Stevens . I like these rifles ( almost as much as my Longbranch ) My son laid claim to my '43 Savage , so we will get into quite the discussion about it (which is best )usually leads to a shootout .... at the range . He stands 2" taller than me now , but this is where I can still spank him...lol Word of caution.. Your sling is on backwards . The brass should be on the inside . When the wire holders face the rifle they will scratch the stocks. I also noted the oversized battlepeep on the Mklll rearsight sight , Is there any stamps on it ? Savage bayo too ?

| Although I like the non blued look, that's a really nice rifle...great job! Has it be parkerized, did you sand off the old stain, or just strip it and refinish it?

| Removed blueing and then parkerized. Stock was stripped and degreased a few times then sanded and refinished (It was pretty bad). Stock was finished with Poly but I should have just used boiled lindseed oil for a more original look. I wanted parkerizing even though it's not an original type of finish. I think it looks great too! Thanks |
