Question smle question.

what type of SMLE is this?

this isnt the actual one i am looking at, but it is the closest pic i could find on a quick google image search. the only difference i see is that the front sling thingy is a little different. the reason this is the closest is because the stock ends halfway down the barrel, instead of continuing to the end.

thanks.

I can't see the whole pic for some reason, so I can't tell you the exact base model, but what you're looking at is a sporter, ie: a military gun modified to be more like a commercial hunting rifle. I had one that was similar to this one based on a Number 3 Mk. 1.

what part of the pic cant you see?

this rifle was grandpa's, and he was in WWII, so i thought perhaps he found it laying on the battlefield or something.

remember, this is not a picture of the actual gun, but a picture i found on the internet

edit: just out of curiosity, what would this thing be worth?

If the rifle you have is sporterized like the one in the pic, value is $75 -- $100 tops

a sporterized mark 3 enfield would go for about $100 if the bore is good. $75 if it is bad. look on the right side of the rifle on the band around the stock behind the action. it will tell you what year it was manufactured, what company made it, and model.

I can see the whole gun up to about 3-4 inches past the receiver. I agree with vicv, the mfgr\model will be on the stock mount part of the receiver.
