| Senior Member ![]() | Welcome to G&G Cloyce! As far as question about restoring your Enfield I can't be much of help in that area. One thing you might try is searching thru the older threads in the Enfield forums, I know the issue has been addressed on several occaisions. You may have to change your user settings to view all posts, I think the default setting might be thirty days. Hopefully others with experience in this area might chime in. |

| Senior Member | Boiled Linseed Oil is the original finish. There's a couple of different types. One is pure ( original finish ) , the other is mixed with drying agents. I use pure straight from the bottle , rubbing it inside and out by hand. It will likely take a few good rubs depending on how dry the wood is. You'll see it soak into the wood at first. It will take a week or more to cure. Once cured , a clean dry rag will buff it to a satin finish. Rubbing with your bare hand will work too. Maybe give it a rub on the outer surface , once a month for awhile after that. I'm in the process of finishing one myself.
