What rear sight for No4 Mk1

I decided to finish my restoration project of a 1943 Long Branch No4 Mk1. When it was given to me the stock had been cut down to sporterize it and the rear sight had been removed ( it was tapped and drilled for a scope mount).

How can I find out which rear sight should be on it?

When I look around the net for sights I see a std dual apeture sight, the flip up ladder style sight, and another odd looking ladder sight.

For what it's worth, my 1941 made U.S. PROPERTY Lend-Lease Savage Arms No.4,Mk1 has a flip up ladder sight with a fixed aperture ring when the ladder is lowered. I hope that helps.

Not an Enfield expert but I have a Long Branch No4 mk1* and it has a flip up vernier peep. This rifle is mighty accurate too, I might add!

Basic Enfield Identification and the Facts about Serial Numbers

shows a Longbranch with the 300-600 flip sight (dual aperture). Just scroll down to the picture.

The best sight is the early and somewhat rare Longbranch or Savage Mkl ,with the small battlepeep.

Longbranch also used the Mklll sights and will have the Canadian govt "C arrow" stamp

I know the original post is over a month old but I found this which is a great reference to the sight types utilized.
