I took my baby in for a scope so i can finally shoot it and hit stuff.
I couldnt see or hit anything through the peep sights, so i dropped the money down and had the scope work completed. Its already a sporter so i didnt destroy a GEM, but this is a GEM to me and i love it.
My Uncle gave me the rifle a few years back for Christmas, Eddystone Enfield m1917.

Has Elk antler inlaid in the stock on both sides of the grip and also up top on the rear tang.
heres the before photos.

and heres what it looks like now, all ready for deer hunting.

Cant wait to take it to the range and dial it in, he also bore sighted it.
Total was $238 out the door for the scope, basee, rings and machine work, all done by Mike Palazzo here in Kent Washington. he builds some real popular rifle setups.

Very nice! I have an 03a3 sporter that is the best shooting rifle I own! It will outshoot my AR all day and my AR is no slouch!

I ended up getting a nicer scope mounted on the old girl.
4-12x40, with multi range settings on front reticle from 15yds to 1000(infinity)yds.
Just have to dial it in tomorrow at the range on the 200yd to a Zero. then i will be in the Vital/kill zone from 15 to 400 yds easily without moving anything.

i changed out the scope to a 4x40.
i refloated the barrel with a temporary fix to keep the forward stock from touching the barrel by shimming the front lug up with two pieces of coke classic pop can squares.
I cleaned the rifle excessively to get all the machine shop cutting oil and shavings out of it.

I took it back to the range last friday to dial it in, on my first 3 shots at 100 yards after bringing it closer at the 50 yard area of therange, it hit right and CLOSE compared to the mans rifle next to me (also an enfield).
He was really jealous of my grouping (see circled holes in target below).

I walked it over the 1-3/4" above center and called it good as i ran out of time and had to leave.

all the shots around the three holes was me tinkering with the adjustment of the scope little by little.

Post hunting season report lol!

Well, after all the work i put into this rifle for the late Elk & Deer season. I hunbted fine all through elk week in eastern wa, scope was great (SWIFT). I got home & wipe the rifle with oil and waited one day to head off to deer camp. I get there, took the rifle out to show everyone and headed to bed shortly after so i could wake up at 4ish AM to head out on my hunt. The second day out i noticed the weather changing to snow, then by days end i was frozen and headed back to camp. that night it snowed another 4" and i decided to head to Walmart in Colville Wa for new boots and a heavier jacket. found a couple great deals and got back to camp. looked my rifle over and noticed it was rusting due to theweather and i decided to wipe it down with oil, during this time i noticed my scope all fogged up. I was mad but what could i do.
Good thing my Uncle had a spare rifle with him. Now i am on the lookout for a set of taller rings to mount my Bushnell Sportview 3-12x40 on the rifle again. I should have just remounted the Bushnell 4x Banner back on it instead of the SWIFT piece of junk. thats what i get for wanting the larger view though.
Murphys law strikes again for me.

Rifle is now in a million pieces for its post season cleaning and oiling. Ordering up some new scope mounts soon.
