New Enfield Enforcer

At only 767 manufactured and around 50% destroyed by the Police to avoid them getting into civilian hands it must be getting on for one of the rarest Enfields.

I now have Number 134 which was originally issued to South Wales Police, and the new one which is number 483 issued to the Northern Ireland Police.

Had a quick try-out last night (just as it was getting dark) and was getting under 1" 5 shot groups at 75 yards. It will improve.

Woodwork is dirty but it will clean up nicely.

Both have the correct Pecar 4-10 scopes, PH slings and Parker Hale bipods and the PH5E/4 micrometer sights.
No134 has 3 (numbered) magazines and a spare (numbered) forend.

Yes it does cost a pound or three.
I believe they are still very much undervalued at the moment but the prices have increased by about 50% in the last 12 months. Current prices (depending on condition, accessories etc) is around the £1500 (US$2500) mark for a 'good' one.
When you think of the many hundreds (thousands ?) of No4 T's made that are fetching £3500 in the UK you can see why I think they are a good investment.

There are also a lot of clones / copies starting to appear as the value has increased - the buyer needs to be aware of what he's looking at.

Alan, on your Enforcer models, I see the butt stock was been replaced. What about the hand guard and fore stock? Is it modified military?

The Enforcer was / is a totally 'new' rifle and not based on a No4 (except it used a No4 action)

The barrel is a very heavy weight 7.62 target barrel.
Barrel & action supplied by Enfield.
The Butt was manufactured by Sile in Italy and shipped to Parker Hale.
The Forend and Handguard were manufactured by Colin Moon (Brighton England).
Parker Hale assembled the barreled action, the butt, forend and handguard and added their own Bipod, PH5E/4 sight , BA20 / 21 scope mounts, RAHS3 rings and a Pecar scope.

Not all Enforcers were issued with the Bipod, Scope, or 5E/4 sight, some had the scope & no bipod, some had scope, but no 5E/4 sight, etc.
It all depended on the budget the local Police force had left to spend.

Is there any way to find out what a specific Enforcer was issued with? I'm just wondering if there is any way to find out if an Enforcer has had things added at a later date.

Also, does anyone have any idea of what ranges of Pecar scope serial numbers are associated with Enforcers? I have heard some comments about certain ranges of scope serial numbers being used with Enforcers, but I do not know any specifics.

As far as I know there is no information as to what was issued with each Enforcer.
The Uk Police work under budgetary constraints (as I guess do most).
The Police are granted a budget each April, and have until the following March to spend it, the wise Police force, saves some money for emergencies, but, the rules are if you dont spend your budget by the end of March then whatever you have left is DEDUCTED from your next years budget, this means that they tend to either have spent all of their money by February, or have some left in March and go on a spending spree - what does this mean ?

Apparently some / many Enforcers were ordered without scopes or bipods to save money (maybe thats all they could afford) and as budgets allowed they would purchase the 'bits & pieces' and could even end up with a 'non-standard' scope, if, maybe the firearms officer had a liking for Schmidt & Bender for example he may buy one of those in the next years budget.
Also remember that the Enforcer could be purchased with a Night Vision in lieu of a Pecar scope.

The Enforcer was pretty much a 'made to order' rifle and bits could be added or deleted as required. It would be wrong to say an Enforcer is 'wrong' because it doesnt have a Pecar scope or a PH bipod. Its just not the accepted 'norm'.

From the information I've received the scope numbers are 'all over the place' ranging from 312xx, to 503xx, to 726xx, to 730xx, to 914xx
It does seem that most of the Met Police ones fall within the 72xxx series - maybe they placed a large 'batch' order.

Hopefully as I accumulate more info the situation will become clearer.

Alan, you have to get around to writing that book about Enforcers sometime soon

I would therefore take it that an Enforcer that has not been drilled and tapped to mount a scope is not actually wrong, just a budgetary consideration at the time.

Very beautiful Alan! I'm so glad your acquiring these extremely rare rifles and getting facts,figures,pics,and of course the rifles together for fun and history. I noticed the magazines look different are they?

The Enforcer is chambered for the 7.62x51 round, so the magazine is different from the .303 magazine.
