No.4 Mk.1 Rear Leaf Sight Problem

This friday I picked up a lee-enfield no.4 mk.1 in fairly good condition. I have yet to take it to the range, but I noticed the rear sight peep hole only moves up 1/4 of the total range it should. Upon closer inspection i saw that the screw that the peep sight block (? i don't know the technical term ) rides on is bent slightly. I could try to bend it back into place, or should I just go out and get a completely new rear leaf sight. Any ideas??

The backsight is a serviceable item, but I doubt you could find parts. If you mechanically inclined go for it. There are several web pages that break down the parts. Once you get the adjusting screw removed you can straighten with a brass punch, a pair of small V blocks would help. If you have a drill press use it like a regular press with the brass punch in the chuck.

Yeah thats what i figured. I have the skill to fix it, but i'd rather to bring it to my friend who's a machinist. Thanks for the advice!

Hi ctsolaris,
I believe that the following site may have the screw you need. If you were unable to straighten it out that is....
Numrich Gun Parts Corp. - The World's Largest Supplier of Firearms Parts and Accessories

Yeah the website looks promising. I haven't gotten around to taking it apart yet any way, so ill probably just look into buying a new screw
