Picked up a 1941 Long Branch at the weekend...

Yep, it is a 1941 Long Branch No.4 Mk.1 (NOT Mk.1*), which I believe is rather uncommon. The rifle metalwork is in pretty good condition, but the woodwork has been sanded quite aggressively. Anyone know of where I might be able to get a replacement 1941 Long Branch forend (the one with the lower right hand wall and recess for the bolt realease catch)? I know they are probably like rocking horse poop, but you never know unless you ask

Photos of the rifle are at:

If I do not have time to refurbish this rare little old lady, then I may be happy to sell it. Any offers??

Frenchy, the rifle is in need of some TLC (I have been discussing the rifle over at the Enfield forum at milsurps.com), but I do not think that I have the time or resources to focus on the restoration. Besides, I just got an Enfield Enforcer, and it is taking up a lot of my time lol. If someone makes me a reasonable offer, I might be happy to part with her.

Just bought a 303 die set the other day and my wife looked at me and said dont you have one of those and I had to show her the stack of dies on the shelf in my hobby room and explain for each cartridge you got to have a diferent set of dies for loading ammo. Then I smiled and said I need a few more and bullet moulds. She thinks I need to knock it off for a while also, but I explained if I die before her all my stuff would pay for a funeral and she would still have a chunk of money left so it is a investment like saveing money in the bank.

Not that I am trying to corner the market or anything, but I may have a lead on another Enforcer (or possibly 2), an L42A1, an L39A1 and an Envoy - my wife is not just going to kill me....

And I wouldn't suppose the 1941 Long Branch forestock you have is walnut, and is complete, and not sanded....

And I bet it isn't for sale lol

Sheesh, what do I have to do to get a little forend (that is not as rude as it sounds...)

I can't help my English sense of humour, Frenchy - you'd have thought that 12 years in the sates would have blunted it, but no...I find too much to make fun of...

I have come across a few people with the right forends, but I want the forend and they want the rifle - and there is no room to bargain lol.

spinecracker,

This e-bay seller has a stock set advertised and his listing says he is still sorting thru some so he could possibly come upon a Long Branch forend for you.
