Welcome jake...sometimes you have to ignore some of the people on here. They were too quick to jump on you, but at least they were big enough to apologize. You'll see its usually the same people that cause problems on here, and sometimes theres too many Chiefs and not enough indians.

Once again, welcome and have fun. :right:

Huh, I missed all the commotion.

Honestly, I didn't see it as spam one bit. Perhaps if it were a dog show or somehting?

Sounds like something very interesting to do. I'll have to pass though. It's a drill weekend & I allready weaseled my way out of the April drill for the Knob Creek

machine gun shoot (which we'll be lucky to have 3~4 people show up for)

At any rate, welcome Jake, hope ya didn't get run off.
B/R

I really would have thought more of the guys here would be more familiar with the IDPA?

Good competitions to hone your skills - shootin paper is one thing, but moving through a scenario is guaranteed to make ya sweat!

Welcome Jake,
I hope you enjoy this forum. Sometimes we get a little carried away. I am a member of Redbrush, but haven't participated in the IDPA. Guy is a Detective with the police department and handles all or most of the firearm training.

I thought I recalled your name on some of the benchrest honor roles?

No that would be my uncle Gary Martens. He has taken up benchrest shooting there at Redbrush.
Yes Guy Minnis is an active LEO and training officer for Evansville PD. Scott Hurt is one of the other Match Directors who is also an active EPD officer.
The Redbrush IDPA matches gets a pretty good LEO turn out from County, City and State.

As I have said, welcome, Jake....and I apologize....

But really, to all my other seasoned bretheren out there........

It was a guys first post...and it was an ad.....ya'll have knocked the every loving rocket snot out of people for doing the same thing before.......Kiss my "oneastrix" if ya don't like it, but it's true. We have had spam all over the boards and we all have fun slapping the spammer around.....remember the one who posted the pics of Xena Warrior Princess' side kick? Heck, she's a hottie....but it was spam and is against forum regs. Good Gosh....we've shunned several spammers. I'm glad this guy is on the up and up. He has great gun knowledge. He's proven that in just a few short days.

Lenny spotted what I had already seen, but I chose to watch for a while. It's easy to sit back after several posts and say that someone is treating a new member badly for a possible drive by spamming. But the bottom line is that it appeared to be a spamming. But I'm glad it's not....and therefore I recanted.....and Lenny did as well....

...and I'm thru!

Thanks for the personal invite Jakemartens...but I won't be able to make it. Sounds like there's something for everyone to have fun with during the meet.

Since I've retired It seems that I've scheduled myself tighter than anyone would ever believe. Got too much "stuff" going on around here where I've previously made committments.

Ok Max...try following me sometime. I may not see as straight, or hold my spoon as level without shaking the sugar out, or stay awake as easily, or have lightning reactions times...but I do compete in doubles tennis tournaments regularly, in fact I'm on the courts every Tue, Thurs, and Sat every week, I do carpentry work every week on a voluntary basis for HFH, I do fart and belch with the best of them while I take my Scotch liquid medicine each night to sooth my nerves.

Beyond that...yeah...I might not be able to keep up with you young bucks who like to stay up till 2-3 a.m. carousing bars and chasing women.

Oh well...those were the days and I'll dream about them when I take my next smooze. :right:

Talking

I don't know anything about being out until 2-3am in the bars, not for a long time and I'm only 31. My wife knows how to shoot and where my guns are so I have retired that lifestyle. Especially with the kids, it is enough to try and figure out homework but to try and do it with a six beer buzz is impossible!!!
I don't want the reason my kid get held back is because his homework is all screwed up, he can get held back all on his own with out my help!!!

I give up. I tried posting a picture of why I use Snakebite as a handle.
Anyway, I was bitten by a rattlesnake and lost my trigger and middle finger. It took awhile before I was able to shoot again....over a year before I could handle any recoil without pain. I'm fine now and shoot almost as good as I once did. Just use a different trigger finger!
Them snakes can be bad for your health.

Not to change the subject, but. Snakes 'O plenty down there right Skanebite.

I was bird hunting once, stepped in a den of Mojave Greens. I could feel them slithering around beneath my feet. My friend said he had never seen anyone with a verticle leap that high! I could have out jumped any NBA center.

Far as IDPA goes, sounds fun. I guess I really never thought about it. I'm more programmed to defend.

Snakebit that sounds horrible.....I hate snakes the only thing they are good for is a pair of boots.....or maybe a belt!!!

Well Jerry as far as IDPA goes, it is the Inaternational Defensive Pistol Association
from their website:
What is Defensive Pistol Shooting?

Defensive pistol shooting as a sport is quite simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real world" self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No "competition only" equipment is permitted in Defensive Pistol matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of an individual, not his or her equipment or gamesmanship.

It was posted under Events/Clubs. I don't get what the problem was.
The thread is pistol related.

No problem, just an incorrect assumption.
