I am sorry that I apparently SPAM'D your site with my first post, I was under the assumption that this site was dedicated to guns and the games that are associated with them.
I am new to this site but not firearm related forums. I spend alot of my time at 1911forum.com. I read over the rules before posting the information regarding the Indiana Regional Match and I didn't think that it was SPAM. I thought SPAM was unsolicited and unwanted Pop Ups, Postings and Emails.
To me a web site forum that is about guns and games would be a place that wanted to know about up coming matches and even encourage these type of post to help inform its members and maybe even to help support those ranges that host these matches to get the word out.

So is this how the members of this forum usually react to a new person?
Someone who was attempting to supply information to what he thought were people interesting in firearms and the shooting sports.
7mmag6 that is pretty funny, but I am not sure that any of the ranges in Northern New Mexico would appreciate it.
I can assure anyone interested in our match it will be nothing like the ones 7mmag6 attends.
As far as the flame towards me I would hope that the admin and mods would follow the forum rule:

Welcome to GunandGame.com. The following are general forum guidelines:
-No flaming, trolling, or engaging in verbal slander toward other members, moderators, or administrators

Jake...I think you were mistooken (is that a word) in your first post. We often get members who join the site, advertise in one post and then never post again.

You, however have proven not to be like that. I apoligize, personally. Thanx for the info, although it is too far away for me to attend. Please enjoy the site and welcome.....and well, as for 7Mag, he's a good ole' boy with a unique sense of humor.

Again, I apologize and hope you will continue to joining in the threads with us.

Matt,

Thanks. It was not my intention to upset anyone, or to just use the forum for "advertising". It was however to inform the members of the upcoming match. Last year at the Regionals we had over $5000 grand worth of donated prize table items from all kinds of companies.
I like to share this information with the shooting community so that they can see what companies are helping to support the shooting sports and the shooters that support their companies.
I have found it very interesting in dealing with these companies the last two years in soliciting for donations.
Some are great, some don't even know what IDPA is, but are willing to help once you talk to them , some just send you back a form letter saying no we get to many request, same just flat out say no we don't do this, some offer discounted prices and some just never even answer.

As for the forum I did look around before posting and found that this is a nice easy to use forum that has plenty to offer and some very knowledgeable and helpful members.

You sure know how to make a new guy welcome

Many of you have posted about matches or some other stuff.

I guess its ok if you are among the top posters...the "select" few.

Read the stuff before slamming the guy!!

I apologize jakemartens. I thought that was going to be your only post. It looked like you were someone who would financially benefit from people joining the match. It looked like you were just advertiseng and them moving on. That is usually the case when someone's first post is an announcement instead of some kind of introduction or a post to discuss gun stuff.

Now let me ask you: Will you benefit financially from this event?

No I do not. As a matter of fact I am only associated with the match because I volunteered to solicite companies to donate prizes for the prize table. I am not an SO, RO or Match Director and I shoot the match with the regular participants. I am also not a member of the range that will be hosting the match. Newburgh is a 3 1/2 hours drive away from me here in Indianapolis.
Actually if you add up postage, long distance, paper, envelopes etc., plus time it cost me to do this.
And as far as the guys putting on the match, 90 shooters x $75 entry fee is $6750
from that you take out cost of
targets, pasters, drinks (for 2 days), the catered chicken dinner, and the SO meal on the set up day, range supplies (staple guns, timers, staples, target stands, wood for the shoot house), cost of shirts and the plaques which are very nice again this year and that doesn't leave much, but what is does leave goes into the clubs account to help pay for supplies for the rest of the matches they hold(maybe targets and pasters for a year) They run an IDPA match every month for the whole year.

Match Director Guy Minnis sent me some of the stage descriptions for this match and I thought that I would share them with you guys. Hope to see some of you there:

I really think the guys will love this match.

We will have two house stages. One house stage will be a par time course of fire. You will be a bomb tech trying to move a bomb out of the house before it explodes. It is a biker's club house and they arrive as you are attempting to remove the ticking bomb. One hell of gun battle develops as you shoot and move the bomb until you are able to put the bomb in the bomb trailer before it detonates.

The other house stage will find you in bed asleep when you suffer a home invasion. You have to get out of bed, go to your night stand and retrieve your weapon and take on the home invaders.

There will be two car stages. One car stage involves your car being hijacked and you shoot your way out and try to make it inside a nearby liquor store to call the police. You are really having a bad day, because when you open the door to go inside and a robbery is in progress and you have to shoot your way out that situation.

The other car stage is "Officer Down II". We will have a police vehicle on the bay and you will be cop involved in a shootout at the end of a vehicle pursuit. The lights and siren will be activated while you are trying to take out the bad guys and get to your wounded partner. If you have never shot and listened to a siren wailing, you haven't lived.

There will be a camping out stage where your gun is inside your pack and you are attacked by pit bulldogs. You try to make it down the wooded path to your car and you have to take on that !!!! old bike gang again.

These are a few of the stages that we will be shooting. 12 stages of fire and 150 rounds of ammo. This will be a really fun match to shoot. It is our hope and our intention to fill the match with 90 shooters.

Basically, I tried to design stages to meet every challenge we could think of. Using cover, shooting on the move, strong hand shooting, weak hand shooting, gun in a drawer, gun on a shelf, gun inside a pack, gun inside a brief case, and gun on the ground. There will be shooting from a kneeling position, standing position, and prone position. Don't worry, plenty of stages will have the gun in your holster.

That does sound like a lot of fun. We often do night tactical shoots with the lights and siren going.....strobes, especially, change everything.

Jake,
Welcome to G&G!

If I still lived in IN, I would certainly apologize in person at the match. But I'm quite a ways away. It sounds like a fun shoot.

Once again, I'm sorry - and welcome in.

You actually live pretty close to me and I would sorta like to meet you. ( I've been drinking too)...seriously, I went by Ben Avery twice this week. I would like to meet another G&G member. I would feel lost going by myself. I would feel the same way going to Jakes shoot.

Snakebite,
Send me a PM and we'll meet up at Ben Avery. Dale and I had a gentleman's agreement to meet there after the superbowl, but he's been MIA.
