| Ranges near Manhattan Hello! Great site, but couldn't find anything on firing ranges. I am a forensic biology student here in the UK currently studying guns and the associated injuries they cause. While in NYC I want to find some one-on-one tuition to basicaly teach me to become a safe and good shooter. However I am having trouble finding ranges in close proximity to Manhattan. I have found two, and was wondering does anyone know of any I could contact or a link to where I could find a range. Cheers Adam |

| HMFIC ![]() | Hello Adam! First off welcome to the site! I did a quick look on google for you, and this is what I came up with. Beretta Sport - 0.7 miles NE - 63rd & 64th, 718 Madison Avenue, New York, 10021 - (212) 319-3235 Antique Firearms & Swords - 2.5 miles SW - 205 W Houston St, New York, 10014 - (212) 620-7010 West Side Rifle & Pistol Range Inc - 1.5 miles SW - 20 W 20th St, New York, 10011 - (212) 929-7287 I can't speak to ever being to these ranges, but here are the ones that I found.

| Senior Member | No...but I have posted before about a UK study of animals being studied after being shot. Perhaps you could comment. The study answered a question about why some animals drop instantly in their tracks. It was found they had ruptured arteries in their head and literally passed out due to a super contraction of the heart muscle at the moment of the shot. I'm amazed you found 2 ranges in close proximity to Manhattan. Certainly if you ask whoever operates the range they will have qualifed instructors making sure no one hurts themselves or others. That's if the range is indeed even open to the public. One thing I'd do is join the NRA. Lots of benefits through them. They may even be able to put you in contact with a private instructor in the area.
