As the tornado cleanup continues in Oklahoma, a new batch of severe thunderstorms are now moving into the area. They aren't tornadic, but they're bringing large hail, torrential rain, and damaging winds. It's pretty much a line with one heading our way. Our property is totally saturated and won't accept any more rain. In the last ten days, we've had well over 6 inches of rain with more heavy rain on the way....... The cleanup efforts will have to be put on hold for a while in the affected areas...... 17 miles of destruction, 1.3 miles wide.

As I already posted in the Wally World thread, I was fortunate enough to run across some .22LR this morning at Wal Mart in Madill Ok. Bought two 325rd boxes of Federal Target Grade for $14.27 ea. and one 100rd box of CCI Mini Mag .22LR HP for $7.27. I thought they were both a little high but still worth it since they are so hard to come by. Then got back to my hotel room and went to Midway USA looking for a 7rd mag for my new XDS. They are usually about $7-$8 cheaper than everybody else. Midway has them for $32.99 plus $4.57 shipping and the $.44 NRA Roundup my total was $38.00.But like everybody else usually out of stock. So when I get a chance and think about it I go look. Low and behold they were in stock today so I ordered one. Would have ordered two but spent the rest of my allowance on the ammo at Wally World. That's ok, at least I will have one now and will keep watching so I can order another one when I get the cash, heck I may even save up
And order two more. Anyway I had a pretty good day I thought.
The hole that the gas tube goes into is open on both ends, it this normal? This is the gas block that I ordered, and I have not taken the old one off yet or looked at the gas tube, so I am a bit clueless on this. It just seemed counter intuitive to have both ends open like that.

The Greatest Wealth Transfer In History

I am still haunted by the image of former head of the Goldman Sachs crime syndicate and former Treasury Secretary, Hank Paulson, telling a closed session of Congress that if they did not grant Wall Street “bailouts” there will be martial law in the streets as a result of the economy collapsing. Ask yourself, if almost five years later and three bailouts later, are Americans better off having sacrificed the bailout money in lieu of maintaining roads, improving schools as well as running the national debt through the ceiling and destroying the financial heritage of our children?

--
The Latest In Stealing From the American People

The Treasury Department once again is taking federal retirement programs to buy the government more time to increase the nation’s debt ceiling. And why does the government need to raise the debt ceiling? The debt ceiling must be raised for two reasons, (1) in order to fund the banker-inspired wars of occupation and, (2) to continue to fund the largest wealth transfer in history, the bailouts

--
Last Friday, Lew announced that the government was taking the unprecedented action of avoiding governmental default through this summer by including tapping into and suspending investments into the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund

--
martial law will commence when the banksters are done looting America. When they have seized your bank accounts, your social security funds, your home mortgages, your pensions and your 401K’s, then, and only then will they roll out martial law

Well today i drove across town to this LGS i have never been too. it's called Green Acres Sporting goods, huge store, tons of stuff. They did have rakcs full of ammo, including all calibers, rim fire rifle pistol, milsurp..everything.

bulk box of remington thungderbolt .22lr....$79.99! 50 rnd boxes of remington .22lr, 9.99.. 50 rnds 9mm..$39.99...20 rnds x54r...$16.99, for spam can milsurp!

needless to say i didnt buy any ammo, it was nice to see the racks full but holy cow! the guy was honest and friendly, he said they basically had a choice, pay more for ammo and have some on the shelves, or not have any at all.

Now, the did have a VERY nice collection of used rifles. plenty of milsurps, decent prices too. a couple that caught my eye were a ruger 77/44 44 mag, a m44, tons of lever actions, a few garands and tons of other stuff. they had a bunch of random used rifle stocks for half off, i almost bought a decent wooden ruger 10/22 stock. they also had a ton of used ar-mags. I bought a 10 rounder bushmaster stainless steel magazine for $20, not the cheapest ever, but its a very nice magazine and i want to get some less than full capacity mags in preparation for a move to colorado. it's really hard to find 15 rnd mags plus i figured a 10 rounder might come in handy if i ever want to take the ar hunting.

I just ordered a replacement rear hand guard because the one on the rifle was whacked by something that took out a big chunk of wood. I'd like to replace the main stock body as well but probably won't find one. Anyways, I thought I'd refinish the wood to make all the pieces match and I'm considering refinishing the metal also.

Anyone here done this and if so what was your method?
