okay, I've done painted myself into a corner on this one. reciently I bought a Remington R-15 18" barrel collapseable stock. I put a Nikon 3-9x50 prostaff on it with Burris extreme tactical rings (xtra high). well I got the 2 Picatinny rails that mount on the foreend and got a BSA high intensity laser as well as the high intensity tactical light and mounted them on the side rails (90 degrees in relation to the scope).

all was well until I tried to put it into one of my double rifle hard cases. ooops.... I cant close the thing up on any of my 4 hard cases. it's now too wide. I'm at a loss as to what to do unless I stip the tacti-cool stuff off before putting it into a hard case. with the accessories attached it measures 5.75" across.

I've seen several setups on here that have to have run into this problem.

anybody got any suggestions?

Anyone had any experience with these?

When I built my rifle, I mounted the best $54 scope Wally World had to offer...seriously, it was so cheap it was boxed in a plastic blisterpack that I pulled off the hook in the sporting goods section.

It seems to have worked just fine, as far as holding zero and whatnot, so I'm not really disappointed or anything. In fact, I bought it simply because my upper finally arrived, and I needed something quick so I could get out to the range that afternoon...and never bothered replacing it, because the farthest I've had a chance to stretch it out was 100yds on the range. My deer stand maxes out at 75yds, so it's not really an issue. For what I've been doing, it works just fine. It's a 3-9x40 Bushnell.

However, this coming spring, I will have access to 3,000 acres in the middle of nowhere. I plan to begin learning how to make long-distance shots, and was looking for something a bit more powerful for this purpose. I have seen a Barska 8-40x50 mil-dot scope advertised for under $100, and figured that would adequately fulfill the 300yd role I'm looking for.

I haven't seen any in-depth reviews of this brand yet, but everything I have seen was positive, with the exception of one guy talking about a low-power scope he bought for an SKS.

Anyone know anything about them, or use them?

I am in the market for a 308win/7.62x51 AR-style rifle/carbine. Probably 16" barrel, in an A4 configuration.

My question: Would you go with the Armalite AR-10 or the DPMS Panther LR-308, for roughly the same price, and why?

Or, would you choose a different mfg for an 308win AR style rifle/carbine, why?

Thanks in advance.

Things may be starting to loosen up here in Taxifornia in the firearms supply area. I'm starting to see AR-15s, AK-47s, Ruger SR-556s, and other semi-autos on the gun racks in the few stores we have, where before there were none, or they came and went quickly. I don't think the prices are falling, yet, and may never, but they're not through the roof either.

I had a chance to examine and handle two new Stag Arms AR-15s the other day in a store; one is a Model 1, and the other a Model 2, I think. The Model 1 has a removable handguard as standard. The Model 2 has a quad rail as standard up forward, fixed front sight but flip down rear sight.

They sure looked and felt like high quality stuff. Very tight and clean.

Any opinions on Stag Arms, please?

OK, no big deal.
Question? Why did I not have to go through all of this with my 20'' chrome lined barrel from Bushmaster? Is it the chrome linning? Or diffrent manufacturers? Or does it matter at all?

I am currently in the process of building my first AR. I have the lower in my possesion and the 20" upper enroute (via UPS) I want to get a decent trigger assembly for this weapon. I don't know much about them since I'm fairly new to owning and shooting AR's. I have a very nice bushmaster AR carbine with I believe a 2 to 4 lb trigger (it was not stock) And I don't know about 2 stage triggers (the pros or cons) I will mainly use the rifle for target shooting. But I would like one, at least mid grade for this weapon. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Has anyone else used one of these? I have the RRA Predator Pursuit upper with the .740" OD barrel, which unfortunately is not threaded. I would like to put a muzzle brake on my rifle.

Ultimately, I will be purchasing a new dedicated hunting upper in .223 with a longer and threaded barrel, but in the meantime I want something for the one I've got. I put a chunk of stainless roundstock in the lathe and bored one out, but my drill press is currently out of commission.

The other night, I was looking at some stuff online, and I saw some "thread adapters" that attach to non-threaded barrels via set screws, similar to the way the brake I'm making will go on. I've also seen some set-screw muzzle brakes.

Has anyone here had any experience with these? I can't find any mention as to whether they will fit the .740" barrel, and I was under the impression that this is larger than the "standard" OD.
